Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Michigan Athlete of the Week for Sept. 26 - Oct. 2, as nominated by SBLive

Max Dawson, Marquette High School

Senior striker and midfielder Max Dawson had himself quite the performance to lead Marquette past Houghton, 7-2, on Saturday. Dawson finished the game by completing a hat trick while adding one assist.

Fernando Munoz, Bangor High School

Junior Fernando Munoz had a big performance in Bangor’s 8-1 win over Comstock. Munoz scored three goals and had one assist in the win.

Colin Muldoon, Howardsville Christian

Junior Colin Muldoon had a big performance to help lead Howardsville Christian past New Buffalo, 7-0. Muldoon finished the game scoring one goal while adding three assists.

Kade Hunt, Skeels Christian High School

Junior Kade Hunt had a huge performance as he led Skeels Christian past Harbor Light Christian, 7-0. Hunt pulled off a hat trick and more as he scored four goals for the Eagles in the win.

Alex Tuesta, Andrews Academy

Junior striker and forward Alex Tuesta had big performances on Monday and Tuesday for Andrews Academy in wins over Michigan Lutheran and Brandywine. Against Michigan Lutheran, Tuesta finished the game with a hat trick and more by scoring four goals in the 7-1 win. Against Brandywine, he finished the game with two goals in a 6-0 win.

Navea Gauthier, Shelby High School

Sophomore Navea Gauthier had two big performances for Shelby in wins over Holton and Whitehall on Tuesday and Thursday. Gauthier finished the game against Holton with 31 kills, six serving aces, three total blocks and 12 digs in the 3-0 win. On Thursday against Whitehall, she finished with another 31-kill performance while also adding two serving aces, two total blocks and 12 digs in another 3-0 win.

Nina Horning, Lake Orion High School

Senior Nina Horning had herself a huge performance against Bloomfield Hills to lead Lake Orion to a 3-1 win. Horning finished the game with 27 kills, seven serving aces, two total blocks and 15 digs.

Kathryn Smith, Utica Eisenhower

Senior Kathryn Smith led Utica Eisenhower past Romeo, 3-1. Smith finished the match with 26 kills, one serving ace, one total block and 25 digs.

Sarah Dunn, Forest Hills Central

Senior Sarah Dunn put on a big performance for Forest Hills Central in their 3-1 win over Lowell. Dunn finished the match with 26 kills, one serving ace and 11 digs.

Aubreigh Oswald, Lowell High School

Senior Aubriegh Oswald had three big performances for Lowell against Grand Blanc, Catholic Central and Caledonia. Against Caledonia, Oswald finished with 20 kills, one serving ace, five total blocks and 15 kills in a 2-3 loss. Against Grand Blanc, she finished with 15 kills, two serving aces, two total blocks and 11 digs while finishing with 14 kills, four total blocks and eight digs vs. Catholic Central. 

Semaj Morgan, West Bloomfield

Senior wide receiver and defensive back Semaj Morgan had himself a day to help West Bloomfield beat Lake Orion, 41-14. Morgan, who filled in for injured quarterback Reqez Nance, threw two passing touchdowns while also returning an interception for a touchdown as well.

Grant Calcagno, Rochester

Senior Grant Calcagno put on a show in Rochester’s 26-6 win over Oak Park. Calcagno finished the game with 155 rushing yards on 16 attempts and one rushing touchdown with five receptions for 113 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.

Brendan Haisenleder, Cardinal Mooney

Senior running back and cornerback Brendan Haisenleder continues to impress, as he has all year, leading Cardinal Mooney past Clarkston Everest, 15-8. Haisenleder finished the game with 148 rushing yards on 28 attempts and two rushing touchdowns. He also compiling 12 total tackles and one interception on the defensive side.

Bryce Underwood, Belleville High School

Sophomore quarterback Bryce Underwood had a huge performance for Belleville in their 56-0 win over John Glenn. Underwood finished the game with five passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown.

Jawon Jarrett, Southfield A&T

Wide receiver Jawon Jarrett put on a show in Southfield A&T’s 49-7 win over Bloomfield Hills. Jarrett finished the game catching 10 receptions for 252 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

Connor Wolf, Grand Rapids Catholic Central

Senior quarterback Connor Wolf had a big performance in Grand Rapids Catholic Central’s 34-36 loss to South Christian. Wolf finished the game completing 26 of his 42 passes for 335 passing yards and three passing touchdowns.

CJ Carr, Saline High School

Junior quarterback and Notre Dame commit CJ Carr had a big performance to lead Saline past Pioneer, 56-0. Carr finished the game with five touchdowns.

Zak Olejniczak, Lapeer High School

Junior quarterback Zak Olejniczak had a huge performance for Lapeer in its 39-17 win over Grand Blanc. Olejniczak finished the game completing eight of his 16 passes for 80 yards and two passing touchdowns, while also rushing for 215 yards and one rushing touchdown.

Devon Pettus, Canton High School

Junior running back Devon Pettus had a great performance for Canton in their 21-41 loss to Brighton. Pettus finished the game with 165 rushing yards on 19 attempts and two rushing touchdowns.

Tae Boyd, Grand Blanc High School

Senior wide receiver Tae Boyd had a big performance in Grand Blanc’s 17-39 loss to Lapeer. Boyd finished the game catching nine passes for 113 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
