We’ve picked out eight freshmen football players in Massachusetts that have stood out this season.

We are just past the mid-point part of the 2023 high school football season here in Massachusetts and there’s no shortage of underclassmen performing at a high level. It’s no surprise that freshmen are showing out in the Green Colony State as that’s been the case in the past many times over. This list of underclassmen features some of the top freshmen football players we’ve seen or have been on the rise in Massachusetts. Take a look at our list and vote for who you feel has been the top performing freshman high school football player in Massachusetts.

Here are the nominations. 

Jayden Campbell, QB, Brockton: The freshman quarterback has completed 27-of-60 passes for 400 yards and two touchdowns through five games. 

Maxwell Parent, RB/LB, St. Mary’s: Parent has carried the rock plenty his freshman campaign, rushing for 200 yards on 48 carries and score two touchdowns. Also has made 31 tackles on defense. 

Rocco Roy, WR, Gardner: The Wildcats wide receiver had hauled in four passes for 115 yards through five games, which leads all freshman wideouts. 

Karson Cournoyer, FS, Blackstone Millville: The free safety has come down in the box to make tackles in run support, tallying 30 tackles, two going for a loss and two interceptions. 

Joshua Labarge, LB, Shepherd Hill Regional: The freshman linebacker has looked good through five games played, racking up 28 tackles, with 20 being solo. 

Wyatt Whitman, LB, Franklin County Tech: Whitman is another freshman linebacker that’s really shown out, as the backer has rallied 22 tackles and one going for a loss. 

Emilio Perez, DE, Commerce: Perez has seen time on the field as a freshman and made the most of his opportunities, notching two sacks at edge rusher. 

Erick Costa, DB, Barnstable: The defensive back is tied with Cournoyer on this list among the freshmen leaders in interceptions with two.
