Turner sisters carry Clarksburg girls to first MPSSAA state crown (video)
COLLEGE PARK, MARYLAND – In the MPSSAA Class 4A girls basketball state championship game for the second time in three years, Clarksburg finally returned to Montgomery County with a state title in its possession, after the Coyotes captured a 43-36 victory over Bethesda-Chevy Chase, Friday night at the University of Maryland's Xfinity Center.
Only last month, the Coyotes (25-3) were licking their wounds after a loss to the Barons (25-3) in the Montgomery County championship game, but they got payback on Friday for that setback, not to mention the lopsided loss they suffered at the hands of Western in the 2022 state final.

The turnaround was led by a trio of Turners, sisters Destiny, Trinity and London, who combined for 36 points, 27 rebounds and 13 steals, with Destiny finishing with a 13-point, 13-rebound double-double.
“This was our get-back game,” London Turner told MoCo 360. “We beat them one time. They beat us [in the county championship game] and this is the get-back game.”
Clarksburg has struggled all season from the free throw line and did again Friday with a 6-for-26 performance, but ironically, the charity stripe may have been where the game was won.
With just 40 seconds to play, Destiny Turner connected on the only successful free throw she had in seven attempts to give the Coyotes a two possession lead. The Clarksburg defense did the rest to close out the victory and deliver the state title.
