Our list includes some of the best in the Maryland and players who prove to be valuable to their teams this season in providing that crucial first down at the end of the game or helping to light up the scoreboard from all the touchdowns that they scored.

There are plenty of worthy names on this list, so be sure to vote in our poll for who you think has been the top running back so far this 2023 season. Voting will close on September 30.

Editor’s Note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. This poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.

Voting ends September 30th at 11:59 p.m. Here are the nominees.

Dilin Jones, Our Lady Good Counsel: The Wisconsin commitment has remained one of Maryland’s top running backs in the early parts of the season.

DeJuan Williams, St. Frances Academy: Williams is already committed to the University of Maryland and though the team is winless, the tailback has still shown out against elite competition.

Gideon Ituka, Gaithersburg: Another running back on this list that will be a Wisconsin Badger after his high school days is Ituka. The Gaithersburg product is off to a nice start so far.

David Avit, Churchill: The Churchill running back is one of the state’s leaders in rushing with 433 yards and five touchdowns.

Keshawn Mister, Concordia Prep: Through three games played, Mister is averaging around 85 yards per game. The tailback has 253 yards and three scores.

DeCarlos Young, Wise: Young is averaging 140 yards per game for Wise and has 280 total with four touchdowns.

Donovan Bryan, Great Mills: It’s just been a couple games for Bryan, but his numbers are right up there with anyone’s. Bryan has mustered up 235 yards (117 per game) and two scores.

Tae Anderson, Frederick: Another tailback that’s stood out this fall is Anderson, who has rushed for 215 yards (107.5 per game) and one touchdown.
