We are three weeks into the Maryland High School Football season and we’ve seen a lot of top performances so far. With many teams having played three games so far, some athletes have already jumped out to impressive starts.

It begs the question to which athlete has had the hottest start to this 2023 season so far in the Old Line State? There’s so many different players to choose from when it comes to this category.

We give you a list of 10 athletes to choose from as we take a deeper dive into what player is off to best start in Maryland High School Football.

Voting will conclude September 14th. 

Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. This poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.

Here are the nominations:

David Avit, RB, Churchill: Avit started off the 2023 season with a bang as the running back rushed for 268 yards on 28 attempts and two touchdowns. 

Marshawn Perry, QB, Potomac: In one game, Perry had one of the most impressive performances. The quarterback completed 12-of-22 passes for 294 yards and two touchdowns. 

Evan Blouir, QB, Patuxent: Another signal caller that had one of the top single game performances is Blouir. The Patuxent field general threw for 257 yards and four touchdowns. 

Ashton Redman, RB, Smithsburg: The running back is off to a hot start on the ground. Redman had a solid stat line with 26 carries for 192 yards and two touchdowns. 

Keshon Greene, WR, Overlea: Greene showed out in game one for Overlea. The wide receiver hauled in seven catches, 154 yards and four touchdowns. 

Braeden Palazzo, QB, McDonogh: Palazzo has the Eagle passing game in high gear, early his season, having thrown for 440 yards and two touchdowns. 

Eli Harris, WR, Broadneck: Harris had himself a night for Broadneck as he caught four passess for 136 yards and a touchdown. 

Cam Allen-Jones, LB, Concordia Prep: The linebacker has 24 tackles through two games for the Saints. 

Darius Smith, DB, Calvert Hall: Smith, a defensive back, leads the Cardinals in tackles with 23. 

Oliver Schamburg, DB, Fallston: The defensive back is leading the entire state in the interception category with three picks after one game. 

Miles Halbert, WR/DB, Northern: The wide receiver had a strong performance against Westlake, catching seven passes for an astounding 333 yards and three touchdowns. Also picked off a pass on defense as well.
