This past Sunday, the state of Maine had four worthy senior high school football players from the 2023 season attend a ceremony for the awarding of the 52nd James. J. Fitzpatrick Trophy.

The trophy is handed to the top senior high school football player of 2023.

Leavitt High School's Noah Carpenter won the prestigious Fitzpatrick Trophy award over the weekend, after helping lead the Hornets to a state championship and putting up some stellar numbers along the way.

The sensational senior quarterback completed 90-of-142 passes for 1,801 yards, 21 touchdowns. On the ground, Carpenter rushed for 1,351 yards on 121 carries and scored 23 touchdowns. Carpenter, who is a Maine commitment, also played a huge role defensively and tallied 110 tackles, five interceptions and forced five fumbles.

Among the other finalists for the award was Oceanside's Cohen Galley, Bonny Eagle's Terrell Edwards and Yarmouth's Michael McGonagle.
