Louisiana girls basketball 'Marsh Madness': Live updates, scores from Day 4 of the tournament (2/29/2024)

HAMMOND, LOUISIANA - It is Day 4 of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association's "Marsh Madness" state girls basketball tournament.

The final two games on the day will be the Division I non-select semifinals, and SBLive Louisiana will be chronicling the action that takes place at the University Center on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana University.

DENHAM SPRINGS 46, MANDEVILLE 39 (FINAL)

- Denham Springs had one player in double figures, that was Prai' Nelson who finished with 12 points. Mandeville got 12 points apiece from Hannah Benoit and Alanna Benoit, and 10 from Saleigh Berry.

- Denham Springs will face defending champion Parkway for the Division I non-select championship on Saturday.

- Mandeville misses a 3; Denham Springs gets the rebound and will win it (Denham Springs, 46-39 | Final)

- Mandeville hits a pair of foul shots, but Denham Springs breaks pressure on the other end with a layup to go back up seven (Denham Springs, 46-39 | :40, 4th)

- Denham Springs hits two free throws and will take a seven-point lead entering the final minute of play (Denham Springs, 44-37 | 1:01, 4th)

- Denham Springs up by two possessions entering the final stretch (Denham Springs, 42-37 | 1:15, 4th)

- Denham Springs builds a six-point lead at the break (Denham Springs, 24-18 | Half)

- Denham Springs takes a three-point lead at the end of the opening quarter (Denham Springs, 17-14 | 8:00, 2nd)

- The final game of the night will be the Division I non-select semifinal between Mandeville and Denham Springs. Winner will play Parkway for the title. Arena is still buzzing from the miracle buzzer-beating shot from Parkway's Chloe Larry.

PARKWAY 64, WALKER 63 (F/OT)

- RayOnna Sterling led Walker with 25 points and was the team's leading rebounder with nine. Arionna Patterson finished with 13 points.

- Dakota Howard was also in double figures for Parkway with 14 points, going 6-of-7 from the field. Savannah Wilson added 12 in the win as well.

- Chloe Larry finished with 29 points in Parkway's win, including the incredible game-winner. She was 9-of-19 from the field, 3-of-10 from 3-point range and 8-of-13 from the foul line. She also had five rebounds, two assists and three steals.

- OH MY GOODNESS, I DON'T BELIEVE WHAT I JUST SAW. Chloe Larry hits a desperation shot from just beyond half-court, and it goes in as the buzzer sounds. Parkway has just knocked off previously undefeated Walker, and the Lady Panthers are going to play for a repeat state title. Unbelievable (Parkway, 64-63 | Final, OT)

- Walker draws a foul with 4.2 seconds left in OT, and will go to the line to shoot two. But the Lady Wildcats miss both. Parkway has one more chance (Walker, 63-61 | :4.2, OT)

- Parkway still alive, as Chloe Larry sinks a jumper with 5.2 seconds left. This game is going to be decided at the foul line (Walker, 63-61 | :5.2, OT)

- It's a two-possession game now as Walker goes 1-of-2 from the free-throw line with 27 seconds left (Walker, 63-59 | :27, OT)

- Parkway is settling in and trading punches with the tournament's top seed (22-22 | 2:15, 2nd)

- Parkway takes its first lead on the night near the midway point of the second quarter (Parkway, 18-17 | 4:30, 2nd)

- Parkway got to within one with time running out on an off-balance jumper. However, Walker drew a shooting foul with 0.1 seconds left, and the Lady Wildcats went to the line and hit both foul shots to back up by three entering the second quarter (Walker, 13-10 | 8:00, 2nd)

- Parkway finally gets on the board with 3:31 left in the first quarter with a successful layup (Walker, 5-2 | 3:31, 1st)

- Walker out to an early 5-0 lead near the midway point of the opening quarter (Walker, 5-0 | 4:20, 1st)

- Top-seeded and undefeated Walker gets set to take on defending champion Parkway in the first of the two Division I non-select semifinals here at the University Center.

JOHN CURTIS CHRISTIAN 58, LIBERTY MAGNET 47 (FINAL)

- Liberty Magnet (22-5) was led by 22 points by Whitney Hart, who went 10-of-19 from the field. Quiana Lavergne added 10 points.

- John Curtis (19-4) was led by 24 points from Chikae Desdunes, who went 9-of-16 from the field and 4-of-8 from 3-point range. She also came up with four steals. Imani Daniel added 16 points for Curtis, and went 7-of-8 from the field.

- John Curtis led 15-9 at the end of the first quarter and 26-20 at halftime.

- No. 2 seed John Curtis controlled things in its Division I select semifinal against Liberty Magnet, as the Lady Patriots move on to Saturday's title game, taking on Woodlawn-Baton Rouge, which knocked out the top seed, Huntington, earlier on Thursday.

LAFAYETTE CHRISTIAN 58, BUNKIE 37 (FINAL)

- Bunkie (20-5) had three players in double figures. Carlesia Fields led the way with 15 points, and she also made two 3-pointers, and Kaylen Rabalais and Shatel Eggins scored 10 points apiece.

- Also in double figures for LCA were Taelyn Taylor and Eve Alexander, with the two combining to go 10-of-21 from the field. In the third quarter, LCA made 8-of-9 field goals (88.9 percent).

- It was a huge game for LCA senior standout and LSU signee Jada Richard, who finished with 33 points on 14-of-22 shooting. She also went 4-for-4 from the free-throw line, made two assists and came up with four steals. 

- Division II select No. 1 seed Lafayette Christian Academy looked the part Thursday afternoon as the Lady Knights built a sizable lead in the early going and built it from there. LCA (28-1) will advance to Saturday's Division II select championship game to take on Madison Prep, which made it to the title game after its opponent, Vandebilt Catholic, withdrew from the tournament due to using an ineligible player.
