Top-ranked Walker remains undefeated as postseason play starts later this week

This week is the start of postseason play across the state.

Louisiana girls high school basketball playoff brackets: 2024 LHSAA Bi-district matchups, game times 

1. Walker, 33-0 (previous rank: 1) - Playoff Standing Division I non-select No. 1

The Lady Cats defeated Denham Springs and St. Amant.

Walker outscored Denham Springs, 35-15, in the first quarter of a 71-38 road win to secure the District 5-5A title. Ja'Miya Vann poured in 26 points with six 3-pointers, according to Robin Fambrough of the Baton Rouge Advocate. LaShantae Clay had 13 points and played a pivotal defensive role as Denham Springs turned the ball over 20 times in the first half.

Walker has a bye in the first round of the playoffs and will face the winner of No. 16 Destrehan (17-7)/No. 17 Fontainebleau (22-9).

2. Lafayette Christian, 27-1 (previous rank: 2) - Playoff Standing Division II select No. 1

The Lady Knights defeated Northside, Teurlings Catholic and Jennings. Indy Hebert and Jada Richard hit 3-pointers and Taelyn Taylor converted on a fast break as LCA built a 28-9 lead before going on to beat Teurlings Catholic, 63-28.

The Lady Knights have a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 16 The Willow School (9-11)/No. 17 Booker T. Washington-Shreveport (12-15).

3. Huntington, 24-2 (previous rank: 3) - Playoff Standing Division I select No. 1

The Lady Raiders defeated Bossier and Evangel Christian.

In the 117-42 win over Evangel, Carley Hamilton scored 27 points with five steals and four rebounds. ZaNyah Lefear added 18 points with five assists and four steals. J'Andrea Ickom had 14 points and Kyndal Graham scored 13.

Huntington has a first round bye and will face the winner of No. 16 Acadiana (18-13)/No. 17 Edna Karr (14-15).

4. Parkway, 21-4 (previous rank 4) - Playoff Standing Division I non-select No. 5

The Lady Panthers defeated Haughton and Benton.

Chloe Larry scored 25 points in the 68-32 win over Haughton, according to Russell Hedges of the Bossier Press-Tribune. Parkway has won 46 consecutive district games dating back to the 2020-21 season. Zara Baker added 15 points, Dakota Howard had 10 and Savannah Wilson contributed nine points.

Parkway will host No. 28 East St. John (16-12) in the first round.

5. John Curtis Christian, 18-4 (previous rank: 5) - Playoff Standing Division I select No. 2

The Lady Patriots were idle. Their last game was a 63-53 win over Southern Lab on Jan. 31.

John Curtis has won 10 of its last 11 games with a two-point loss to Lafayette Christian.

The Lady Patriots have a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 15 Scotlandville (14-16)/No. 18 Southwood (19-13).

6. Wossman, 25-4 (previous rank: 6) - Playoff Standing Division II non-select No. 1

The Lady Cats defeated Bastrop and Carroll (twice).

Wossman handed Bastrop its only two losses of the regular season, topping the Lady Rams by scores of 53-25 and 60-29.

The Lady Cats have a first round bye and will face the winner of No. 16 North Vermilion (13-12)/No. 17 North DeSoto (19-7).

7. Mandeville, 26-5 (previous rank: 9) - Playoff Standing Division I non-select No. 3

The Lady Skippers defeated Covington and Hammond.

Alanna Benoit scored 18 points with five rebounds, two assists and two steals in the 60-16 rout of Covington. Hannah Benoit added 17 points with six rebounds, five steals and three assists. Saleigh Berry chipped in 12 points, five rebounds, five steals, two assists and two blocks.

Alanna Benoit scored her 1,000th point in the 72-28 win over Hammond. The sophomore totaled 25 points, eight rebounds and seven steals.

Mandeville has a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 14 Chalmette (20-5)/No. 19 East Ascension (17-8).

8. Vandebilt Catholic, 19-6 (previous rank: 10) - Playoff Standing Division II select No. 2

The Lady Terriers defeated Ellender and South Terrebonne to extend their winning streak to 11 games.

Sophomore Journee Johnson made six 3-pointers in a recent game. Gemi Detillier had a 3-pointer and a blocked shot in the early going as Vandebilt Catholic routed Ellender, 63-13.

The Lady Terriers have a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 15 Washington-Marion (12-15)/No. 18 Istrouma (16-12).

9. Southern Lab, 24-7 (previous rank: 11) - Playoff Standing Division IV select No. 1

The Kittens defeated Kentwood, Thrive Academy and Phoenix and have won 18 of their last 20 games.

Southern Lab has been without junior standout Shaila Forman, who is rehabbing from an injury. As a freshman, Forman was the district MVP and Outstanding Player as the Kittens won the state title.

Southern Lab has a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 16 St. Mary's (12-18)/No. 17 Vermilion Catholic (12-12).

10. Rosepine, 27-5 (previous rank: 12) - Playoff Standing Division III non-select No. 1

The Lady Eagles defeated Oakdale and Avoyelles to increase their winning streak to 18 games.

Rosepine rallied from behind to beat Oakdale, 65-54, for its fourth straight district championship, according to Rodrick Anderson of The American Press. Amaya Shine scored 21 points, followed by Kailea Blankenbaker and Nevaeh Rivera with 11 points each. Kelly Norris had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Eagles have a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 16 North Webster (11-8)/No. 17 St. Helena (8-9).

11. Southside, 26-4 (previous rank: 7) - Playoff Standing Division I non-select No. 4

The Lady Sharks lost to Lafayette and defeated New Iberia.

In the 44-39 overtime loss to Lafayette, Eymani Key scored 13 points. Key also led the team in scoring in the 38-32 win at New Iberia.

Tamia Cahee and Alleyah Kennedy verbally committed to LSU-Eunice.

The Lady Sharks received a first-round bye and will host the winner of No. 13 St. Amant (16-11)/No. 20 Salmen (16-15).

12. Denham Springs, 26-4 (previous rank: 8) - Playoff Standing Division I non-select No. 2

The Lady Jackets defeated Archbishop Chapelle and Dutchtown and lost to Walker.

Raegan White scored 12 points and Prat Nelson added 10 in the 71-38 loss to Walker, which snapped an 11-game winning streak.

Denham Springs received a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 15 Slidell (19-6)/No. 18 Barbe (19-9).

13. Hicks, 31-3 (previous rank: 13) - Playoff Standing Division V non-select No. 1

The Lady Pirates defeated Pitkin, 60-48, received a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 16 Phoenix (14-17)/No. 17 Calvin (20-11).

14. Fairview, 28-7 (previous rank: 14) - Playoff Standing Division V non-select No. 2

The Lady Panthers defeated Plainview and Reeves, received a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 15 Holden (11-13)/No. 18 Pleasant Hill (22-13).

15. Carencro, 22-7 (previous rank: 20) - Playoff Standing Division I select No. 6

The Lady Bears defeated Lafayette and Acadiana. The 42-36 win over Lafayette was the Lady Lions' first district loss and snapped their eight-game winning streak.

Senior point guard Shelcie LeBlanc announced her commitment to Baton Rouge Community College.

Carencro received a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 11 Warren Easton (16-9)/No. 22 Captain Shreve (12-14).

16. Amite, 26-5 (previous rank: 15) - Playoff Standing Division III non-select No. 2

The Lady Warriors defeated St. Helena and Bogalusa to run their winning streak to nine games. Through 29 games, senior Miracle Irving was averaging 12.7 points, three assists and 1.4 steals per outing.

Amite received a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 15 Winnfield (14-13)/No. 18 Marksville (7-9).

17. South Beauregard, 24-7 (previous rank: 16) - Playoff Standing Division II non-select No. 2

The Lady Knights knocked off Westlake and Plainview to extend their winning streak to 13 games. The string of victories is highlighted by wins at Iowa and Oak Hill. South Beauregard received a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 15 Leesville (20-10)/No. 18 Minden (13-11).

18. Liberty Magnet, 22-4 (previous rank: 17) - Playoff Standing Division I select No. 3

The Lady Patriots defeated Woodlawn-Baton Rouge and Scotlandville to extend their winning streak to seven games.

Liberty has a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 14 Higgins (19-4)/No. 19 Dominican (14-16).

19. Lafayette High, 13-8 (previous rank: NR) - Playoff Standing Division I select No. 10

The Lady Lions defeated Southside and lost to Carencro. The loss to Carencro snapped an eight-game winning streak that basically coincided with the return of center Grace Paul.

Paul returned from injury and was eased into the lineup with limited minutes in a January win over New Iberia. Her presence provides length and strength in the lane.

Junior guard Kira Johnson scored her 1,000th point earlier this season.

Lafayette hosts No. 23 Mount Carmel (10-17) in the opening round.

20. Oakdale, 24-7 (previous rank: 19) - Playoff Standing Division IV non-select No. 2

The Lady Warriors defeated Holy Savior Menard and lost to Rosepine.

The Lady Warriors held a double-digit lead against Rosepine before falling, 65-54. Oakdale has won 10 of its last 12 games, with its only losses to the Lady Eagles. Amani Young led OHS with 17 points. Kaylee Bradley added 10, and Akeelah Hobson had seven points and 10 rebounds.

Oakdale received a first-round bye and will host the winner of No. 15 Homer (13-12)/No. 18 Delhi (10-13).

21. Bastrop, 31-2 (previous rank: 18) - Playoff Standing Division II non-select No. 3

The Lady Rams defeated Sterlington and lost to Wossman. Johnique Bradley scored 13 points in the 45-31 win over Sterlington in the District 1-3A Tournament. Alana Myles added 11.

Bastrop received a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 14 St. Martinville (19-7)/No. 19 Lutcher (16-8).

22. Anacoco, 30-5 (previous rank: 22) - Playoff Standing Division V non-select No. 3

The Lady Indians defeated Oak Hill, 52-41. Abbie Dowden provided the game's first points with a 3-pointer.

Anacoco received a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 14 Quitman (21-10)/No. 19 Florien (18-12).

23. Midland, 24-9 (previous rank: 21) - Playoff Standing Division V non-select No. 4

The Lady Rebels defeated St. Thomas More and Lacassine and lost in overtime to J.S. Clark.

Midland received a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 13 Negreet (26-10)/No. 20 Converse (23-12).

24. Madison Prep, 22-10 (previous rank: 24) - Playoff Standing Division II select No. 3

The Lady Chargers defeated Parkview Baptist and Glen Oaks to push their winning streak to nine games.

Madison Prep received a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 14 Lake Charles College Prep (14-12)/No. 19 St. Michael (10-14).

25. Doyle, 28-4 (previous rank: 25) - Playoff Standing Division III non-select No. 3

The Lady Tigers defeated University Lab and Port Allen and earned a top 3 seed for the fourth time in the past six years.

Doyle received a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 14 Richwood (15-16)/No. 19 Avoyelles (12-16).
