Oak Grove defeats Haynesville: Live updates, score of Louisiana high school football Division IV non-select state championship (12/7/2023)
NEW ORLEANS - On Oct. 6, Oak Grove, the defending Division IV state champions, defeated Haynesville, 61-27.
When the two teams had a rematch, this time Thursday night at the Caesars Superdome for the Division IV non-select championship, it was more of the same in the Tigers' favor.
Behind a record-setting rushing attack, Oak Grove rolled past the Golden Tornado, 62-36.
Oak Grove has now won eight state championships, also winning four titles over the past five seasons. Haynesville was seeking to win its 18th state title and its first since 2014.
The Tigers rushed for 401 yards in the win, which set a new record for most rushing yards in a Division IV/Class 1A title game. Junior quarterback Jackson Bradley had 211 of those yards on 23 carries with three TDs while being named his team's Most Outstanding Player.
Another junior for Oak Grove, tailback Jay Freeman, had 173 yards on 23 carries and three TDs. He also had a fourth TD when he recovered a fumble in the end zone as Bradley was about to go in for his fourth score on a keeper attempt.
