Louisiana high school football: Here are the top offensive linemen for the 2023 season

LSU commits Joseph Cryer, Khayree Lee head up this season's list

Louisiana might be known first and foremost for its elite skill position players, but the state also has a bumper crop of offensive line prospects. 

From the rising seniors to the up and coming sophomores in the trenches, here is a look at some of the best offensive linemen.

Joseph Cryer, 6-4, 290, Sr., Natchitoches Central 

Many High School went 14-0 last season, capping off the run with a Division III non-select state championship, and Cryer paved the way for the Tigers' run-heavy offense. He will get the opportunity to test the waters against tougher competition as a senior after transferring to Class 5A Natchitoches Central.

Cryer, who verbally committed to Ole Miss in June before eventually de-committing, subsequently landed a scholarship offer from LSU, a program that has ties to his family, and he later switched to the Tigers.

Ranked as the No. 18 prospect in Louisiana by ESPN and is projected as a center. Nickname is "Big Hoss."

Khayree Lee, 6-5, 310, Sr., John Ehret 

This LSU commit is ranked as the No. 9 player in Louisiana by ESPN. Pledged to the Tigers in November 2022.

Lee was a tackle last year for John Ehret, which reached the first round of the Division I select playoffs as a No. 18 seed. The Patriots were eliminated by No. 15 Archbishop Rummel, 31-24.

Lee will be up against some of the state's top defenders when John Ehret takes on reigning Division I non-select champion Destrehan in Week 2. Drew praise from On3 analyst Sam Spiegelman following an impressive performance at LSU's camp this summer.

Devin Harper, 6-6, 290, Jr., Captain Shreve 

Harper is ranked as a four-star prospect, the No. 3 player in Louisiana, the No. 8 interior offensive lineman in the country and the nation's No. 140 player by 247Sports. LSU, Georgia and Alabama are among the suitors for Harper, who is uncommitted.

Listed as the No. 2 "Eye Catcher" by Sam Spiegelman for his efforts at the LSU elite camp this summer. 17th-seeded Captain Shreve reached the second round of the Division I select playoffs last year. 

Mitch Hodnett, 6-5, 280, Sr., Sterlington

Hodnett is ranked as the No. 26 prospect in Louisiana by On3. Committed to TCU on Aug. 3. Also holds offers from Oklahoma State, Tulane, Houston, Kansas State and others.

Started as a sophomore on a Sterlington team that went 15-0 and won the Class 3A state title. Projected as an interior lineman by On3. Lined up at both left and right tackle last year in a traditional I-formation offense.

With Hodnett opening holes, Sterlington is expected to contend for the Division III non-select crown after reaching the second round last year. 

Lamar Brown, 6-4, 260, So., University Lab

LSU, Georgia and Texas A&M have already offered Brown, who is projected as an offensive tackle by On3. Listed as the No. 2 Class of 2026 prospect in Louisiana by PrepRedzone and also listed as the No. 3 player in the nation in the 2026 Top 100 by 247Sports.

Placed second in the shot put at the LHSAA Class 3A outdoor state track meet with a throw of 50-04. Has a PR of 52-7 and runs a 4.72 in the 40-yard dash.

Also plays defense for U-High, which reached the Division III select semifinals last year. 

Brysten Martinez, 6-6, 280, So., East Ascension

Florida State and Texas Tech have offered Martinez, who also plays basketball for East Ascension. The Spartans narrowly missed a huge upset in the second round of the Division I non-select basketball playoffs where they fell by one point at top-seeded New Iberia.

Martinez played as a freshman last year for the football team, which reached the second round of the playoffs. He has already received offers from Georgia and Oregon, and is also ranked No. 37 in the national 2026 Top 100 from 247Sports.

Brett Bordelon, 6-5, 290, Jr., Isidore Newman

The LSU four-star commit is ranked as the No. 6 player in Louisiana, the No. 8 interior offensive lineman in the country and the No. 185 overall player by On3.

His older brother, Bo Bordelon, signed with LSU and his father was an All-SEC second-team selection for the Tigers. Brett was the second player to commit to LSU in the 2025 class.

Primary blocker last year for the nation's No. 1 prospect, quarterback Arch Manning, now at Texas. Newman garnered the top seed in Division III select and reached the quarterfinals.

Jackson Jones, 6-7, 290, Jr., Pine

TCU, Ole Miss, Baylor, Tulane, Louisiana Tech and Kansas State are among the scholarship offers for Jones, who is ranked as the No. 17 player in Louisiana by 247Sports. Helped Pine get out to a 5-0 start last year.

The Raiders reached the first round of the Division III non-select playoffs as a No. 8 seed. Jones primarily served as a run blocker from his tackle position in Pine's double-wing offense. 

Gresham Perry, 6-4, 285, Jr., Teurlings Catholic

Perry picked up his first scholarship offer in June from the hometown UL Ragin' Cajuns. He was the youngest starting lineman last year for Teurlings Catholic, which reached the Division II select semifinals. Perry started along with a junior and three seniors.

Will be tasked with protecting star quarterback Preston Welch from the left tackle position. Gresham is the younger brother of former Teurlings Catholic and LSU offensive lineman Thomas Perry. Their father, Adam Perry, was an offensive tackle at LSU.

Tristan Santoro, 6-6, 270, Sr., Evangel Christian

Santoro, a Baylor commit, is ranked as the No. 13 player in Louisiana by On3. Committed to the Bears after an official visit in June.

Recorded a distance of 147-8 in the shot put, which was second-best in the Shreveport-Bossier City metro area. Led the 13th-seeded Eagles to a near-upset at No. 4 E.D. White in the Division II select second round.

Could get an opportunity to square off with Westgate defensive lineman D'Myrion Johnson, an LSU commit, when the two teams collide in Week 3. 

Kavion Broussard, 6-5, 255, Sr., Zachary 

ESPN ranks Broussard as a four-star prospect and the No. 11 player in Louisiana. Tulane, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Miami, Florida State, Texas Tech and Mississippi State are among the offers for Broussard, who is projected as a tackle.

But recently, Broussard announced his commitment to Miami. Helped Zachary to the Division I non-select semifinals. 

Jude Foster, 6-4, 270, Sr., Southern Lab

Ranked as the No. 17 player in Louisiana and the No. 42 interior offensive lineman in the country by ESPN. Committed to Ole Miss in June.

Louisiana, Tulane, Georgia Tech, South Florida, Florida State and Baylor are also listed on his offer sheet. Helped the ninth-seeded Kittens to a quarterfinal appearance in the Division IV select playoffs. 

Jayce Mitchell, 6-4, 285, Sr., Destrehan

Cincinnati commitment who is ranked as the No. 25 player in Louisiana by ESPN. Projected as an interior offensive lineman. Offer sheet also includes Texas-San Antonio, Tulane, Louisiana, Georgia Tech, Colorado State and California.

Helped Destrehan post a 14-0 record en route to winning the Division I non-select state championship. The Wildcats scored at least 41 points in all 10 regular season games. 

Ashton Helaire, 6-5, 310, Sr., St. Thomas More

Helaire is the only returning starter on the offensive line for St. Thomas More, the reigning Division II select state champions. The Cougars went 13-1 and scored 178 points in four playoff games.

Offer sheet includes Miami, Kansas State, Georgia Tech, Washington, Michigan State and North Carolina State, Projected as an interior offensive lineman. Ranked as the No. 19 player in Louisiana by Rivals. 

Ryder Bentley, 6-6, 280, Sr., Ouachita Christian 

Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Monroe, Memphis, Air Force, Louisiana and Tulsa are among the schools that have offered Bentley, a tackle who earned Class 1A all-state recognition after leading Ouachita Christian to a 13-1 record and the Division IV select state title.

Also competes in basketball and track. Placed third in the shot put at the LHSAA outdoor state track meet with a throw of 49-01. 

Witten Van Hoy, 6-7, 290, Jr., Benton

Colorado, Louisiana Tech and Louisiana-Monroe have extended scholarship offers to Van Hoy, who was listed as one of Sam Spiegelman's "Eye Catchers" at LSU's camp.

Helped Benton to a No. 8 seed and a second-round berth in the Division I non-select playoffs. The Tigers scored 52 or more points in six games, while going 8-4 overall and 6-1 in District 1-5A.

Jeremy Duncan, 6-6, 260, Sr., Captain Shreve

Teams up with Devin Harper to give Captain Shreve one of the state's best offensive lines. Versatile enough to play guard or tackle. Has a 3.8 grade point average and a 79-inch wingspan.

Raymond Howard, 6-3, 275, Sr., Archbishop Shaw 

Verbally committed to Air Force at the conclusion of a visit to Colorado Springs in late July. Has a 4.0 grade point average.

Four-year starter who also holds offers from Navy, Nicholls State and Southeastern Louisiana. One of the state's top wrestlers in the 285-pound weight class. Led Shaw to the Division II select quarterfinals.

Damian Reed, 6-2, 270, Sr., Iowa

Class 3A first-team all-state selection who committed to Southeastern Louisiana over the summer. Also plays defensive tackle and is nicknamed "Pancake." Placed third in the shot put at the 3A state track meet.

Led Iowa to the No. 1 seed and a semifinal appearance in Division II non-select.

Eli Head, 6-5, 270, Sr., Caldwell Parish

Offensive tackle with a 3.8 grade point average and an 80-inch wingspan. Helped Caldwell Parish to a No. 16 seed and a Division III non-select first round playoff appearance.

Holds a preferred walk-on offer from Houston and scholarship offers from Arkansas-Monticello, Henderson State and Delta State, among others.

Jarmaine Mitchell, 6-8, 310, Sr., St. James

Ranked as the No. 46 player in Louisiana by Dandy Don. Nicholls State and Grambling State are recent offers for Mitchell, whose nickname is "Big Baby." Led St. James to a Division III non-select semifinal appearance.

Orion Duplessis, 6-5, 355, Sr., John Curtis Christian

Southern Miss and Grambling State have offered this offensive tackle, who will face off with five-star defensive tackle Dominick McKinley when John Curtis hosts Acadiana.

Led the Patriots to the Division I select state championship last year. Ranked as the No. 72 player in Louisiana by Dandy Don.

Eli Little, 6-4, 255, Sr., Winnfield

Ranked as the No. 75 player in Louisiana by Dandy Don. Helped Winnfield to a No. 6 seed and second-round playoff berth in Division III non-select.

Bryce Godfrey, 6-3, 270, Sr., John Curtis Christian

Nicknamed "Turbo." First-team all-state Class 5A selection with a 4.0 grade point average. Center who is the son of Curtis assistant coach Jerry Godfrey (who played at Tulane).

Carson Doiron, 6-2, 290, Sr., Vandebilt Catholic

Ranked as the No. 81 player in Louisiana by Dandy Don. Received the Top Lineman Award at the Pro Lineman Camp held at Nicholls State in June.

Received an offer from Arkansas-Monticello in May. Led Vandebilt Catholic to a second-round appearance in the Division II select playoffs.

Jalan Chapman, 6-4, 275, So., Warren Easton

LSU, Georgia, Alabama and Oregon are among the programs already in the mix for Chapman, who is projected as a tackle by On3. Attends the same high school as University of Georgia lineman Sedrick Van Pran.

First-team all-district selection as a freshman. MaxPreps Freshman All-American. Helped Warren Easton to the No. 1 seed and a Division I select quarterfinal appearance.

Kaleb Campbell, 6-8, 290, So., Lafayette Christian

Tulane has offered Campbell, an offensive tackle for the Division II select runner-up Knights.

John Hebert, 6-3, 255, Jr., University Lab

Class 3A honorable-mention all-state pick as a sophomore. Grambling State has offered Hebert, who has a 4.0 grade point average.

Preston Jones, 6-4, 280, Jr., University Lab

Grambling State has offered Jones, an offensive guard and nose tackle for the Cubs.

Kriston Bell, 6-5, 290, Sr., Edna Karr

Left offensive tackle for one of the state's perennial powerhouse programs. Mississippi Valley State, Grambling State and Alabama State have offered.

Jacob Carpenter, 6-2, 265, Sr., Evangel Christian

District 1-4A first-team selection. Nicholls State offered in June.

Keydrian Holliday, 6-3, 265, Sr., Liberty Magnet

Ranked as the No. 97 player in Louisiana by DandyDon.

Andrew Richard, 6-3, 280, Sr., Central-Baton Rouge

Ranked as the No. 88 player in Louisiana by DandyDon.
