Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Louisiana high school athlete of the week for May 8-14. Read through the nominees and cast your vote. Voting will conclude Sunday at 11:59 p.m. If you would like to nominate an athlete, please email athleteoftheweek@scorebooklive.com or tag us on Twitter.
This will be the final Athlete of the Week poll for the 2022-23 school year.
Donovan LaSalle, Barbe baseball
LaSalle went 2-for-4, including hitting a grand slam that highlighted a nine-run top of the seventh as the Buccaneers rallied to defeat West Monroe, 10-4, for the Division I non-select championship.
William Good, Jesuit baseball
Good threw six scoreless innings and struck out six as the Blue Jays edged Archbishop Rummel, 1-0, for the Division I select title. Good was named the game's Most Outstanding Player.
Tyler Dartez, Iowa baseball
Dartez pitched a four-hit shutout as the Yellow Jackets capped a stellar postseason run with a 4-0 win against Lakeshore for the Division II non-select championship. He also had two hits on offense.
Brendan Gaubert, E.D. White baseball
Gaubert was named the Most Outstanding Player in the Cardinals' 6-2 win against Vandebilt Catholic for the Division II select title. He was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and also got the save, pitching three innings and allowing one run on three hits.
Jayden Milton, Berwick baseball
Milton threw out a baserunner at home plate to end the bottom of the seventh, forcing extra innings in the Division III non-select title game. He then hit the go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the eighth as Berwick claimed a 4-2 win against Doyle.
Ayden Authement, St. Charles Catholic baseball
Authement was 3-for-4 and drove in three runs, including a go-ahead two-run single in the third, as the Comets went on to claim the Division III select title with a 9-1 win against Menard.
Brodie Stuart, Oak Grove baseball
Stewart went 4-for-7 at the plate with six RBIs as Oak Grove outlasted DeQuincy in 12 innings, 11-10, for the Division IV non-select championship.
Karson Trichel, Ouachita Christian baseball
Trichel pitched six innings of shutout ball, allowing one hit, and also had a hit and an RBI to pace the Eagles to an 8-0 win against Ascension Catholic for the Division IV select title.
Lincoln Stephens, Pitkin baseball
Just a freshman, Stephens was named the game's Most Outstanding Player in Pitkin's 8-4 win against Anacoco for the Division V non-select championship. He had two singles and drove in four runs, while giving up three hits in a relief outing, striking out four.
Conner Mayeux, Avoyelles Charter baseball
Mayeux allowed five hits in 4 1/3 shutout innings and also struck out six as the Vikings claimed their first-ever baseball title with a 3-0 win against Family Community in the Division V select title game.
