Huntington has successful Homecoming night in defeating Minden

SHREVEPORT - Huntington turned in a dominant performance on its Homecoming night.
The Raiders rolled past Minden, 60-27, Friday at Independence Stadium. It was the second straight win for the Raiders (3-2).
Huntington got the Homecoming festivities started with an 8-yard run from Tre Carter, and the Raiders added a successful two-point conversion to make it 8-0 with 4:58 to go in the first quarter.
The Raiders would have another big play a few minutes later with a 65-yard pass from quarterback Kamron Evans to Carter, which made it 14-0 with 1:26 to go in the opening quarter.
Minden (1-4) would find the promised land early in the second quarter with a 13-yard pass from Jakobe Jackson to Jaylin Williams. The Crimson Tide added the PAT to cut the Raiders' lead in half, 14-7, with 11:13 to go in the first half.
Huntington would find pay dirt once again more than two minutes later with a TD to extend the lead to 22-7. But Minden continued to make things interesting.
The Crimson Tide found the end zone again with a 1-yard run from Daylen Robinson to make it 22-14 with 1:57 to go in the half, which ended up being the score at intermission.
Then just 1:10 into the second half, Minden drew within a point, 22-21, with a 63-yard run from Jackson.
But it turned out to be as close as the Crimson Tide were able to get, as Huntington would rattle on three touchdowns; a 12-yard run from Kaleb Tucker with 9:27 to go in the third quarter, a 1-yard run from Jamarion Mims with 3:22 to go in the third, and a 16-yard pass from Evans to Kenton Brossett with 21 seconds remaining in the third quarter to make it 44-21.
Huntington then started their first possession of the fourth quarter with a big play, a 70-yard pass from Evans to Kaleb Tucker to make it 52-21.
Minden finally broke the Raiders' surge and found the end zone one last time with a 63-yard run from Daylen Robinson to make it 52-27 with 7:04 left.
But Huntington would wrap up the fun with one more touchdown, a 12-yard pass from Evans to Carter.
"We played well and executed well," said Huntington coach Stephen Dennis. "We had great response in the fourth quarter after a lull in the third quarter."
Evans, one of the state's top passers, finished his night completing 24-of-26 passes for seven TDs, which set a school record. He also ended up throwing for 501 yards.
"I had to stay focused and stay locked in," he said.
Huntington will play crosstown foe Booker T. Washington next Friday, while Minden will host Bossier.
