First female IGHSAU executive director Jean Berger announces retirement
The IGHSAU’s first woman executive director, Jean Berger, is retiring.
The IGHSAU made the announcement via a release Tuesday afternoon.
Berger was just the fifth executive director in the history of the nearly 100-year-old organization. She began her tenure in 2016. A search will begin immediately with the help of firm Grundmeyer Leader Services.
"Jean Berger’s tenure has been defined by her unwavering commitment to the mission and values of the IGHSAU,” said Russ Adams, IGHSAU board of directors president, in the release. “We are immensely grateful for her service and wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement. As we look ahead, we are confident that Grundmeyer Leader Services will help us identify an exceptional individual to build upon Jean's legacy and lead the IGHSAU into its next chapter of excellence."
Berger ends her tenure with satisfaction.
“It has been my honor to serve as the executive director of the IGHSAU and to work alongside some of the most talented staff, administrators and student-athletes. I am proud of what we have accomplished and am grateful for the confidence our leadership has always shown in me. I am excited for what lies ahead for the Iowa Girl,” Berger said.
