The senior running back ran for five touchdowns and 164 yards on a mere nine carries in the Wildcats’ 49-6 triumph over Wapello.
Kayden Anderson, Glenwood football
Anderson completed 10 of 11 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns and tacked on a rushing score for the 4A sixth-ranked Rams in a 47-6 win over Atlantic.
Will Arkfeld, Harlan football
Arkfeld passed for 312 yards and four touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown for the defending Class 3A state champions in a 48-20 win over Denison-Schleswig.
Gavin Batta, South Central Calhoun football
The senior passed for 206 yards and a touchdown and charted a team-high 6.5 tackles (3.0 for loss) as the Class A eighth-ranked Titans blanked No. 6 Southwest Valley 47-0.
Austin Baumhover, Van Meter football
The senior quarterback passed for 165 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 123 yards and two more scores, leading the Class 2A top-ranked Bulldogs past Des Moines Christian 56-17.
Coleton Beasler-Weber, Xavier Catholic football
The senior had 216 yards rushing and 109 yards and a TD receiving in the Saints’ 21-20 loss to Williamsburg.
Graham Beckman, Iowa City Liberty football
The senior was 26-for-32 for 269 passing yards and three touchdowns in a 31-14 victory over Iowa City High. Beckman has passed for 554 yards and five TDs in his first two games this season.
Brady Boulton, Montezuma football
The super sophomore did everything he could in a 57-55 loss to Moravia, completing 24 of 33 passes for 338 yards and eight touchdowns. He also ran for 88 yards on 14 carries.
Cameron Boyd, Storm Lake football
The sophomore hauled in 11 catches for 177 yards and two touchdowns from Carson Lullmann, who passed for 305 yards and three scores in a 37-20 loss to Boone.
Quinn Breitbach, Dubuque Hempstead football
The Mustangs pulled out a 35-28 victory over Waterloo West behind Quinn Breitbach’s 192-yard, two touchdown performance.
Jaylon Brooks, Urbandale football
The junior rushed for 210 yards and three touchdowns and Urbandale scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to overtake 10th-ranked Iowa City West, 31-17.
Zack Butler, Woodbury Central football
The junior ran for 234 yards and five touchdowns, leading the 1A third-ranked Wildcats to a 39-22 win over Westwood. Butler carried 28 times.
Jaxon Cherry, Webster City football
Cherry broke loose for 320 rushing yards on 30 carries with five touchdowns as the 3A ninth-ranked Lynx stormed past Spencer 34-7.
Bryson Childress, West Lyon football
The junior was 10-for-12 for 200 passing yards and two touchdowns for the 2A third-ranked Wildcats in a 53-12 win over Lawton-Bronson.
Calvin Collins, Logan-Magnolia football
The senior ran for 159 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries to lead the Panthers to a 42-12 win over Kingsley-Pierson.
Caleb Cook, Pleasantville football
The Trojans’ senior running back ran for 90 yards and a TD and caught five passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns.
Titus Cram, Bondurant-Farrar football
The senior running back broke loose for 285 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries as the Blue Jays rolled past Grinnell 40-0.
Blake Cronin, Waukee Northwest boys golf
The Wolves’ sophomore won the Northwest Invitational by one stroke with a score of 69 at the Legacy in Norwalk.
Canaan Dunham, Pella boys cross country
The Dutch rolled to the team title, placing three in the top nine in a 15-team meet at Central College, including Dunham, who won the race in 15:47.8.
Jack Every, Dallas Center-Grimes boys cross country
Every won his school’s home meet with a time of 16:49 as Mustang runners took the top three spots.
Aiden Flora, ADM football
The senior QB had another big game, passing for 216 yards (12 of 17) and a touchdown and running for 197 yards and four TDs on 17 carries. The Tigers improved to 2-0 with a 49-27 win over Winterset.
Ben Frazier, Waterloo West football
The junior RB racked up 230 yards and scored three touchdowns on just 11 carries, but it wasn’t enough as Dubuque Hempstead outlasted the Warriors 35-28.
Kyler Gerardy, North Scott football
Gerardy completed 16 of 18 passes for 344 yards and four touchdowns and also ran for 126 yards and two TDs on 11 carries in the Lancers’ 56-28 win over Waverly-Shell Rock.
Vincenzo Gianforte, Cedar Rapids Kennedy football
The junior passed for 482 yards and five touchdowns, completing 29 of 42. Three of his TD strikes went to Cyrus Courtney, who caught 17 passes for 320 yards. It wasn’t quite enough though as Pleasant Valley pulled out a 36-35 victory.
Drew Gerdes, Cedar Falls football
The senior had 135 rushing yards and two touchdowns, leading the Tigers to a 35-21 win over Class 5A No. 4 Johnston.
Grant Glausser, Western Dubuque football
The senior racked up 230 rushing yards on 24 carries, scoring three touchdowns as the Class 4A sixth-ranked Bobcats improved to 2-0 with a 35-14 win over Dubuque Wahlert.
Brennan Hayes, Creston football
Hayes rushed for 196 yards and a game-winning 74-yard touchdown as the 3A 10th-ranked Panthers upended top-ranked Lewis Central 22-20.
Drew Hansen, Ankeny boys golf
The senior carded a 69 to win a 17-team meet at Fort Dodge Country Club as Ankeny shared the team title with DC-G.
Aidan Harder, Norwalk football
Harder threw for 406 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Warriors to a 21-14 win over Norwalk.
Alissa Henry, Clarke volleyball
The Indians went 3-0 in match play last week thanks in part to Alissa Henry. She has 291 assists (18.2 avg.)
Danielle Hostetler, Mid-Prairie girls cross country
Hostetler outraced the competition by winning a 15-team meet at Central College that saw Pella runners take 2-7 place. Hostetler ran a time of 19:31.2
Wesley Hubbard, Waverly-Shell Rock football
The junior QB threw four passes for touchdowns in 56-28 loss to North Scott.
Christian Ingram, Boone football
The senior running back rushed for 200 yards and two TDs on 13 carries in the Torreadors’ 37-20 win over Storm Lake.
Angelo Jackson, Assumption Catholic football
Jackson scampered for 203 yards and scored four touchdowns to lead the Knights to a 48-21 win over Davenport North.
Cal Jepsen, Sioux City East football
Jepsen had 299 passing yards and two touchdowns in the Black Raiders’ 27-10 victory over Sergeant Bluff-Luton. Jepsen threw for 340 yards in a 28-21 loss to Glenwood in East’s season opener.
Noah John, Grand View Christian football
The senior quarterback threw for 170 yards and three touchdowns and also scored three touchdowns and run for 138 yards on just 11 carries as the Thunder stormed to a 47-17 win over Colfax-Mingo.
Sam Johnson, Waukee Northwest football
Johnson passed for 207 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 61 yards as the Wolves clipped crosstown rival and fifth-ranked Waukee 20-17.
Casey Kelley, Cedar Rapids Prairie football
The senior carried 16 times for 248 yards and five touchdowns in a 49-13 triumph over Dubuque Senior. Kelley also caught a touchdown pass for the eighth-rated Hawks.
Carter Kleinwolterink, Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley football
The sophomore completed 23 of 38 passes for 362 yards and four touchdowns as the Comets rolled to a 39-6 victory over West Sioux.
Max Knudsen, Osage football
The senior QB accounted for six touchdowns – three by air and three on the ground – in the 45-0 rout of Garner-Hayfield. He completed 14 of 20 passes for 210 yards.
Owen Larson, Estherville Lincoln Central football
The Midgets’ senior QB ran for 277 yards and five TDs on 17 carries and also threw for 138 yards in a 35-16 win over Emmetsburg.
Gavin Maeder, Hampton-Dumont-CAL football
The senior QB ran for four touchdowns and 169 yards on only nine carries and completed two passes for 64 yards and a TD as the Bulldogs rolled to a 34-7 win over Clarion-Goldfield-Dows.
Quin Mahler-Moreno, Perry girls swimming
The Bluejays’ swimmer swam the fastest times in the state in both the 500 freestyle (5:16.53) and 100 breaststroke (1:00.96).
Alex Manske, Algona football
The Bulldogs rolled to a 49-16 win over Forest City behind the arm of Alex Manske, who threw for 268 yards and three touchdowns. He also scored a rushing TD.
Landon McGrann, Centerville football
The junior QB had a huge game in a 42-17 win over Davis County, accounting for six touchdowns. He passed for 297 yards and two TDs and ran for 176 yards and found himself in the end zone four times.
Lance McShane, Maquoketa Valley football
The senior running back broke loose for 326 yards and five touchdowns on 29 carries to lead the Wildcats to a 42-20 win over North Cedar.
Piper Messerly, Dallas Center-Grimes girls cross country
Messerly won the DC-G meet with a winning time of 19:29, breaking the tape almost 30 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
E.J. Miller, Independence football
The junior passed for 226 yards and five touchdowns in the Class 3A eighth-ranked Mustangs’ 39-13 conquest of Crestwood. Miller added 53 rushing yards, while junior Tate Wood racked up 22 tackles on defense.
Connor Moberly, Southeast Polk football
The Iowa State commit completed 16 of 25 passes for 272 yards and five touchdowns as the two-time defending Class 5A state champions beat Ankeny 58-21.
Dylan Muszynski, Linn-Mar football
The junior ran for 173 yards and three touchdowns for the seventh-ranked Lions in a 49-7 victory over Cedar Rapids Washington.
Jackson Naeve, Regina Catholic football
The Royals rolled to a 51-19 win behind many performances, but none better than Jackson Naeve’s. The senior caught nine passes for 151 yards and three touchdowns, ran for 32 yards and two TDs and recorded seven tackles.
Jonah Petersen, MMCRU football
The senior quarterback completed 13 of 17 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for two scores in the Royals’ 34-27 victory over Gehlen Catholic.
Peyton Peterson, Dike-New Hartford volleyball
The Louisville signee has the state power Wolverines rolling with 183 kills.
Dominick Polsley, Clarinda football
Polsley rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns and scored on five two-point conversion runs in the Cardinals’ 56-0 shutout of Red Oak.
Preston Ries, Monticello football
The future Hawkeye passed for 207 yards and three touchdowns, rushed 10 times for 62 yards and had 11 tackles, including three for loss and a sack in the Panthers’ 49-0 win over Beckman Catholic.
Adrien Robbins, PCM football
The junior workhorse toted the pigskin 46 times for 231 yards and three touchdowns, but the 2A fifth-ranked Mustangs lost a 29-28 thriller to Pella Christian.
Pryce Rochford, Edgewood-Colesburg football
The junior QB had a big game, rushing for 347 yards and seven TDs on 19 carries in an 8-player 66-26 triumph over Easton Valley. He also completed both of his passes for 67 yards, including a 54-yard TD strike.
Sophie Sander, Anamosa volleyball
The Blue Raiders are off to a 14-1 start behind the setting of the sophomore Sanders, who leads the state with 308 assists.
Javon Sanders, Des Moines Lincoln football
The junior totaled 191 rushing yards on 16 carries with three touchdowns as the Railsplitters downed Des Moines East 26-8.
Jacob Simpson, Johnston football
The senior caught six passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns from QB Will Nuss, who passed for 281 yards in the Dragons’ 35-21 loss to Cedar Falls.
Perrin Sulzle, Baxter football
The junior passed for 341 yards and four touchdowns – completing 26 of 44 throws – and rushed for 80 yards in a 28-21 win over Coon-Rapids-Bayard.
Beau Wadle, Lemars football
The senior caught three touchdown passes and ran for one in the Bulldogs’ 38-14 triumph over Sioux City North.
Preston Wicker, Madrid football
The junior QB fired two touchdown passes and ran for four to lead the Tigers to a 48-18 victory over Martensdale-St. Marys. He rushed for 147 yards on just 12 carries and completed 5 of 7 for 93 yards.
Carlie Willis, Grundy Center volleyball
The senior hitter has the Spartans off to a perfect 14-0 start with a state-best 191 kills.
Isaac Zoske, North Polk football
The senior was 14-for-18 for 267 passing yards and four touchdowns in the eighth-ranked Comets’ 43-7 victory over Carlisle.
