Here are the candidates for SBLive's Indiana High School Athlete of the Week as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff.

Jalen Alexander, Hamilton Southeastern football
The senior set the tone with a 70-yard touchdown run to open the scoring in a 42-23 win over Avon. He finished with 164 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries.
Whitney Anderson, Valparaiso girls cross country
The sophomore won the State Preview varsity title in 19:18.3, edging teammate Elizabeth Ehrhardt by one-hundredth of a second.
Cameron Bell, Michigan City football
In a 28-6 victory over Chesterton, the senior caught two passes for 54 yards and a touchdown, and had three carries for 68 yards and another score.
Alex Broshears, Evansville Memorial football
The junior linebacker had eight tackles (including two for losses) and added a 37-yard interception return for a touchdown in a 56-0 shutout of Evansville Central.
Tyler Cherry, Center Grove football
A year after a double-overtime loss to Louisville Trinity, the senior helped the Trojans gain revenge. He completed 13 of 17 passes for 280 yards and four touchdowns in a 34-7 win.
Marley Dunham, South Bend St. Joseph girls golf
The sophomore won the Northern Indiana Conference title, shooting a 77.
Larry Ellison, Crown Point football
The junior running back ran 23 times for 182 yards and four touchdowns in a 39-6 victory over Merrillville.
Kendall Garnett III, Westfield football
In a 28-27 win over Zionsville, the junior rushed 24 times for 135 yards and three TDs, and added three receptions for 21 yards and a score.
Maverick Geske, Brebeuf football
The junior led the way in a 44-31 victory over Mishawaka Marian, completing 23 of 34 passes for 368 yards and five touchdowns.
Bennett Gorak, Fishers football
The senior quarterback was 23-of-27 passing for 289 yards and three touchdowns in a 48-22 win against Noblesville.
Thomas Gotkowski, Ben Davis football
In a 62-0 shutout of Pike, the senior completed 12 of 17 passes for 287 yards and five touchdowns.
Braydon Hall, Indianapolis Lutheran football
The senior ran for three touchdowns and caught two scoring passes in a 43-13 victory over Triton Central.
Noah Lien, Tri-West football
The senior ran a punt back 52 yards for a touchdown and caught a 72-yard TD pass in a 56-0 shutout of Frankfort.
Annika Lute, South Bend Trinity girls cross country
The freshman was the South Bend City champ with a time of 20:55.
Khobie Martin, Fishers football
The Miami (Ohio) commit finished with 164 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries in a 48-22 victory over Noblesville.
Maximus McCool, Castle football
In a 52-42 win over Evansville Bosse, the junior ran for 209 yards and three touchdowns, and also added 68 receiving yards and a TD.
Matthew McKitrick, Western football
The sophomore had 262 total yards and four touchdowns – three rushing and one receiving – on 35 touches in a 33-20 win over Rensselaer.
Izayveon Moore, Lawrence North football
Just a freshman, Moore rushed 21 times for 231 yards – including touchdowns of 71 and 47 yards – in a 41-26 win over Lawrence Central.
Brandon Mueller, Penn boys cross country
The senior took first at the Manchester Invitational with a time of 15:57.
Danny O’Neil, Cathedral football
The Colorado commit set the tone in a 35-6 win over Penn, passing for 215 yards and five touchdowns – to five different receivers. He also ran for 54 yards.
Sam Quagliaroli, Fishers boys cross country
The junior won his second major race in two weeks, taking the State Preview varsity title in 15:29.3.
Brock Riddle, Greenwood football
The state’s leading passer entering the week, Riddle threw for 292 yards and four touchdowns in a 43-28 victory against Greenwood. He also ran for 48 yards and a touchdown.
Josh Ringer, East Central football
Named the Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown MVP in a 38-28 victory over Cincinnati Moeller, Ringer rushed 26 times for 246 yards and three touchdowns, and also added a touchdown reception.
Jalen Sauer, Indian Creek football
In a 38-0 shutout of Owen Valley, the senior threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more scores.
Garrett Sherrell, Brownsburg football
The senior carried 30 times for 173 yards and two touchdowns. He also turned a screen pass into a 58-yard touchdown catch in a 35-21 victory over Franklin Central.
Caden Vanderbush, Plainfield football
The Eastern Michigan recruit had a 46-yard catch and returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown in a 31-15 victory over Mooresville.
Caiden Verrett, Hanover Central football
In the Wildcats' Northwest Crossroads Conference debut after moving from the Greater South Shore, the junior ran 11 times for 173 yards and five touchdowns during a 60-13 victory over Highland.
Elijah Wagner, Evansville Bosse football
In a 52-42 loss to Castle, the senior had 530 total yards – 323 rushing and 207 passing – and five touchdowns.
Ayden Wells, Evansville Reitz football
The senior had 13 tackles (including three for losses) and added a sack in a 24-7 win over Jasper.
Kennedy Yordy, Goshen girls soccer
The junior scored both goals in a 2-2 draw with Warsaw and scored three times in a 9-0 shutout of Wawasee.
Hanover Central's Matt Koontz voted SBLive's Indiana High School Athlete of the Week (August 21-27)
Congratulations to Hanover Central football player Matt Koontz, who was voted the SBLive Indiana high school Athlete of the Week for August 21-27. He received more than 45 percent of the votes.
Koontz, a senior, completed 15 of 21 passes for 166 yards and ran 17 times for 54 yards and three touchdowns in a 24-14 win over Morton.
North Putnam football player Christian Kramer finished second in the voting after receiving more than 24 percent of the votes.
