Lemont's Sage Mardjetko voted SBLive's Illinois High School Athlete of the Week (May 1-7)

Tossed a three-hit shutout and struck out 15 in a 3-0 win

Congratulations to Lemont softball's Sage Mardjetko, who was voted the SBLive Illinois high school Athlete of the Week for May 1-7.

Mardjetko, a South Carolina-bound senior, tossed a three-hit shutout and struck out 15 (including the 750th of her career) en route to a 3-0 Lemont victory over Beecher.

Tyler Bell, Lincoln-Way East baseball

A University of Pittsburgh commit, Bell had a stellar day at the plate during the Griffins' 13-5 non-conference win over Providence. The junior finished with four hits (including a three-run home run) and drove in four runs.

Alec Crum, Batavia boys track and field

Crum starred for Batavia at the 104th Kane County Conference meet on Friday. The Grand Valley State commit won the high jump and triple jump and added a second-place finish in the long jump to help Batavia bring home the team title.

Tatum David, Olney (Richland County) girls track and field

David had an impressive performance at the Little Illini Conference championships on Wednesday with a time of 4:40.38 in the 1,600 meters. The senior also broke the Illinois state record in the 3,200 earlier this season with a time of 9:48.64.

Sarah Klonowski, St. Laurence softball

Klonowski was dominant on the mound on a big stage during the Girls Catholic Athletic Conference Red championship game against Mother McAuley on Wednesday. The conference player of the year tossed a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts to clinch St. Laurence’s first conference championship in program history.

Kait McHale, Naperville Central girls track and field

McHale had a record setting performance at the DuPage Valley Conference meet on Thursday. The senior University of Michigan commit cleared a personal best of 13 ¼ feet to take home first place, set a new personal best as well as break the meet record.

Collin Mowry, Lincoln-Way Central baseball

Mowry, a University of Louisville commit, had himself a monster week going 7-for-13 with six home runs (including a four home run performance in a 13-1 win over Normal) and 12 RBIs over five games.

Mason Orton, Mahomet-Seymour baseball

A sophomore lefthander, Orton tossed a complete game for the Bulldogs on Saturday allowing just four hits and one earned run while striking out 17. With their two wins on Saturday, the Bulldogs took over 1st place in the Apollo Conference.

Graham Roesel, Joliet Catholic baseball

In a battle of two of last year's state champions with Nazareth Academy on Thursday, Roesel set the table for the Hilltopper offense. The junior recorded four hits and drove in two runs as Joliet Catholic came out on top 8-2.

Grace Schager, Glenbard North girls track and field

Schager took home DuKane Conference titles in three distance events on Thursday. The senior finished with times of 11:00.52 in the 3,200, 5:02.48 in the 1,600, and a 2:19.33 in the 800.

Wil Schufreider, Grayslake Central baseball

A senior committed to the College of Lake County, Schufreider was dominant on the mound to help Grayslake Central defeat Lakes 1-0 on Wednesday. The right-hander tossed a complete game and struck out eight.

Simon Skroch, Yorkville baseball

A junior committed to the University of Minnesota, Skroch had a quality start on the mound against Oswego East on Tuesday. The lefty scattered six hits in six innings, allowed just one run and struck out 11 as the Foxes won 5-1.

Addison Stanciak, Warren girls soccer

In two conference wins against Waukegan and Lake Forest, the sophomore forward totaled five goals and two assists.

Dina Stavrakis, Shepard softball

Stavrakis, a senior infielder, caught fire with two home runs and 11 RBIs to help the Astros cap off a solid 4-0 week.

Skylar Swanson, Downers Grove South girls soccer

Swanson came through in a clutch moment for the Mustangs in their crosstown matchup with Downers Grove North on Saturday. The sophomore scored what proved to be the deciding goal off of a rebound with 7:11 left to play and South was able to hold on for a 2-1 victory.

Tucker Tollerton, Quincy Notre Dame baseball

A senior, Tollerton had a huge day at the plate against Hamilton on Thursday. The lefty was 2-for-3 with two home runs and seven RBIs as the Raiders won 17-5 in four innings.

Mitch Voltz, Providence Catholic baseball

A junior, Voltz provided an offensive spark during the Celtics' 7-5 win over Montini Catholic on Friday. He finished 3-for-4 including a big two-run home run in the seventh inning.

Jack Watson, Batavia baseball

In a conference rivalry game against Geneva on Thursday, Watson tossed a five-inning no-hitter with 11 strikeouts and just one walk. The Bulldogs won 14-0.

Jake Zitella, St. Charles East baseball

Zitella, a senior, had a big time offensive performance against crosstown rival St. Charles North on Saturday. The University of Illinois commit was 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, and three RBIs to lead the way in a 4-2 victory.
