SBLive Power 10 Idaho high school football rankings, Week 5: After Skyline win, Hillcrest joins cast

Knights upend three-time defending Class 4A champions on 'Hail Mary' touchdown to remain undefeated

Each week, SBLive Idaho will update its all-classification top-10 high school football rankings.

Here is the Week 5 list compiled by SBLive Idaho correspondent Brandon Walton:

1. EAGLE (4-0)

Last week: Beat Owyhee, 21-17.

This week: Travels to Nampa (0-4) at 7 p.m. Friday.

The Mustangs needed a game-winning drive, but thanks to sophomore running back Noah Burnham, they kept their perfect record intact. Eagle will now look for its first 5-0 start since 2006.

---

2. HIGHLAND (4-0)

Last week: Beat No. 9 Pocatello, 24-17.

This week: Hosts No. 6 Meridian (2-2) at 7 p.m. Friday

The Rams survived a late charge to win their 13th consecutive Black and Blue Bowl. Now they’ll turn their attention back to Class 5A play in a marquee action against the reigning state runner-up.

---

3. MOUNTAIN VIEW (3-1)

Last week: Beat Borah, 42-21.

This week: Travels to Boise (4-0) at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The Mavericks denied the Lions their first 5-0 start in 28 years with a much-needed bounce-back win. They did so in pretty dominating fashion to show everyone the perennial power is here to stay.

---

4. ROCKY MOUNTAIN (2-2)

Last week: Bye.

This week: Travels to Centennial (1-3) at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Were the Grizzlies able to fix their offensive woes during the break? They’re averaging just 16 points per game. That should be answered against a Centennial team they’ve beaten 10 years in a row.

---

5. COEUR D’ALENE (3-1)

Last week: Beat Lakeland, 54-0.

This week: Travels to Woodinville, WA (3-0) at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Vikings’ defense has been amongst the best in the state at 9.7 points per game. They’ve posted shutouts in back-to-back games. Coeur d’Alene seems to have now founds its offensive after last week.

---

6. MERIDIAN (2-2)

Last week: Beat Timberline, 35-20.

This week: Travels to No. 2 Highland (4-0) at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Are the Warriors back? They’ve gotten themselves back to .500 with back-to-back wins. But both wins have come against teams who currently don’t have a winning record. So this will be the real test.

---

7. HILLCREST (4-0)

Last week: Beat No. 10 Skyline, 36-35.

This week: Travels to No. 9 Pocatello (2-1) at 7 p.m. Friday.

Seemingly now the team to beat in Class 4A after Isaac Davis hauled in a 55-yard "Hail Mary" catch to stun three-time reigning champion Skyline. But another challenge in Pocatello awaits.

---

8. BISHOP KELLY (4-0)

Last week: Beat Lake City, 45-0.

This week: Hosts Vallivue (1-3) at 7 p.m. Friday

Knights continued to roll with their fourth consecutive double-digit win - something they did a year ago as well. Bishop Kelly is now looking for the fourth 5-0 start since 2016.

---

9. POCATELLO (2-1)

Last week: Lost to No. 2 Highland, 24-17.

This week: Hosts No. 7 Hillcrest (4-0) at 7 p.m. Friday.

Thunder came within a dropped pass of stunning one of Class 5A's top teams. They’ll look to rebound against Hillcrest, which edged them out last year. So payback will be on the mind, too.

---

10. SKYLINE (2-2)

Last week: Lost to No. 7 Hillcrest, 36-35.

This week: Plays Idaho Falls (1-3) at 7 p.m. Friday.

Despite tough Hillcrest loss, Grizzlies still one of top teams in Class 4A - and it would be foolish to dismiss the three-time defending champs from rebounding.
