Mary Persons (Georgia) to play football team from Canada in 2024 season

The game is to take place on Aug. 30 in Forsyth, Georgia

United States versus Canada in high school football?

Check that off your bingo card of games scheduled for the 2024 high school football season, because a team from north of the border will be traveling to the southeast.

According to The Monroe County Reporter, Mary Persons High School will play host to New Westminster Secondary School from British Columbia on August 30th. This is undoubtedly a unique matchup between two schools from separate countries.

It wouldn't be the first time, though, that a team from the United States faced a team from a different country. Just take a look back into last season when IMG Academy White traveled across the pond to face the NFL Academy (England) in 2023.

This time around, a team will come to the states to play and get a small taste of what Georgia Friday night lights is all about. The game will take place in Forsyth, Georgia, which is roughly over 2,800 miles from New Westminster Secondary School's home in British Columbia.

The Bulldogs are coming off a solid 2023 campaign, finishing the season 11-2 in AAA and falling to Cedar Grove in the postseason. Mary Persons is slated to bring back some talented players, including junior defensive end Jayden Odoms, who tallied 78 tackles, 14 for loss and six sacks.
