Georgia Football Class 6A State Championship Preview: Thomas County Central vs. Woodward Academy
When: Tuesday, December 12, 2023 - 6:00 p.m.
Where: Mercedes Benz Stadium, Atlanta, Georgia
The Match-up:
This year’s Class 6A matchup seems eerily similar to that of the Class 7A state championship.
On one side, you have a 14-0 powerhouse in Thomas County Central, that has dominated one side of the ball better than anyone else in the state. Their defense is allowing just over eight points-per-game through 14 games.
On the other side, you have a 12-2 Woodward Academy team that struggled early on, but has since won 11 straight games to reach the state finals. They upset both Gainesville, the 6A favorite in the quarterfinals, and Douglas County on Friday night.
The Yellow Jackets will be the favorites heading into the 6A state finals on Dec. 12, but don’t count out the War Eagles, who are red-hot. This has the making to be a terrific four-quarter game with both sides having a legitimate shot to win.
