Grayson High School opened its doors in 2000 and has had a steady stream of regional and state football championships in the two-plus decades since.

Over the same time frame the Buford Wolves have had just as much, if not more, football glory than the Rams. However, the two have never crossed paths before on a football field.

That will all change on Friday night when Buford travels to Loganville to face Grayson in a highly anticipated third-round GHSA Class 7A state playoff game with a trip to the state semifinals on the line.

The primary reason the two have never met before is the fact that they have never been in the same classification. Buford moved into Class 7A just last year. Ironically enough, Class 7A will go away after this year due to the GHSA’s recent reclassification announcement, but it is here today and it provides the platform for this historic first meeting.

Buford led by the nation’s top quarterback and University of Georgia commit Dylan Raiola is 11-1 and ranked No. 2 in the SBLive Georgia Power 25 rankings, as well as No. 12 nationally. Grayson is 10-2 and No. 7 in Georgia by SBLive.

The Wolves reached this contest with a hard fought 28-25 win over Newton, last week, as Raiola passed for 174-yards and four touchdowns, including three TD throws to Florida State commit KJ Bolden. Raiola has 2,684-yards and 34 touchdowns this season.

Grayson quarterback Jeff Davis also passed for three touchdowns last week, producing 263-yards in a 42-18 rout of North Paulding. Davis has 2,606 passing yards and 32 touchdowns this year.
