Coach of the Week

Congratulations to last week's winner: Santavious Bryant of Grayson.

Here are this week's nominations:

Julian Washington, Arabia Mountain: For the first time since 2017, the Rams are region champs after they scored a 24-23 overtime win against Tucker last Friday night. It’s the first region championship for head coach Julian Washington, who took over the program before the start of the 2021 season.

Eric Godfree, North Gwinnett: The Bulldogs rained on Norcross’s parade last Friday night after taking them down 51-41, and it almost led to a region championship for first-year head coach Eric Godfree. The Bulldogs lost out on a tiebreaker, but it will still give them a ton of momentum heading into the state playoffs.

Heath Webb, Lumpkin County: For the first time in program history, the Indians are region champs, and they do so by completing their first-ever 10-0 regular season last Friday night with a 42-7 win over West Hall. Led by second-year head coach Heath Webb, the Indians now have their sights set on winning their first-ever state playoff game.

Umbrah Brown, Central (Carrollton): The Lions secured their first region championship since 2014 after defeating Heritage-Ringgold 35-34 last Friday night. The Lions are led by first-year head coach Umbrah Brown, who also helped lead them to a 10-0 regular season.

Tommy Watson, Harris County: After defeating McIntosh 14-6 last Friday night, The Tigers secured their first region championship since 2014. Led by second-year head coach Tommy Watson, the Lions went from a 2-8 regular season last year to a 9-1 regular season this year.
