Now it’s time to voice your opinion on which player should be named SBLive’s South Georgia high school football defensive player of the week.

Read up on this week's five candidates below and let us know your pick. Voting will conclude on Saturday, October 21st at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced in next week’s poll.

South Georgia Defensive Player of the Week

Congratulations to last week's winner: Cooper Thornhill of Camden County.


Here are this week's nominations:

Gabriel Bauman, Richmond Hill: Junior outside linebacker Gabriel Bauman did his part in last week’s 24-14 loss to Valdosta, recording a game-high 17 tackles, including a tackle for a loss. Nine of his 17 tackles were of the solo variety.

Coleman Lewis, Lowndes: Vikings junior linebacker Coleman Lewis dominated in a 31-7 win over Dunbar (Fl.) last Friday night, recording a team-high 13 tackles and a sack. Of his 13 tackles, three went for a loss.

Jontavious McGriff, Valdosta: Senior outside linebacker made the most of his opportunities last Friday night in a 24-14 win over Richmond Hill. He sacked quarterback Kirk Hill twice in the win to lead the way for the Wildcats.

Cooper Thornhill, Camden County: Looking to win back-to-back South Ga Defensive Player of the Week awards, Camden County’s Cooper Thornhill dominated once again, this time recording 14 tackles against nationally-ranked Colquitt County last Friday night.

Kelvin Williams, Westover: Senior defensive back put together a very good night for the Patriots last Saturday. He led the team in tackles with 10 and also recorded an interception in the 27-0 shutout victory.
