Coach of the Week

Congratulations to last week's winner: Kareem Reid of McEachern.

Here are this week's nominations:

Dante Williams, Archer: The Tigers earned their first signature win of the Dante Williams era last Friday night when they stunned a Top 10-ranked Parkview Panthers team 28-27. After starting the season 1-3, the Tigers have since ripped off three wins in a row to sit at 4-3 on the season and 2-0 in Region 4-7A play.

Matt Helmerich, Peachtree Ridge: Heading into last Friday night, the Lions were 6-0, but had yet to get a real test from anyone this season. Looking to pick up their first real big win of the 2023 season, the Lions did just that, defeating North Gwinnett for the first time since 2016. Led by second-year head coach Matt Helmerich, the Lions are now 7-0 on the season.

Shannon Jarvis, Elbert County: The Blue Devils entered last Friday night 0-7 all-time against Rabun County, a battle that started back in 2016. But on Friday night, the Blue Devils snapped that streak and picked up the win 21-9 to improve to 7-1 on the season under the direction of head coach Shannon Jarvis.

Josh Lovelady, Mill Creek: In what was easily the biggest game being played last Friday night, the Hawks took down Top 5 nationally ranked Buford 31-24, their first-ever win against the Wolves, to remain unbeaten on the season. Led by head coach Josh Lovelady, the Hawks have now won 15 games in a row dating back to last season.

BJ Jamison, Therrell: The Panthers’ great season continued last Friday night with a dominant 37-0 shutout of Kipp Atlanta. Led by head coach BJ Jamison, the win matches last year’s win total of six wins, and now gives them an opportunity to reach seven or more wins for the first time since 1996.
