The eighth week of the Georgia high school football season is in the books.

Now it’s time to voice your opinion on which player should be named SBLive’s North Georgia high school football defensive player of the week.

Read up on this week's five candidates below and let us know your pick. Voting will conclude on Saturday, October 14th at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced in next week’s poll.

Ryder Duffy, Roswell: Duffy continued his standout 2023 campaign in a 84-6 win over Lassiter. The junior made eight tackles, including two tackles for loss and one sack, and he caused and recovered a fumble.

Wendell Gregory, Walton: Gregory had a monster night in nationally-ranked Walton’s win against North Cobb. The South Carolina commit racked up seven tackles, including three tackles for loss and two sacks.

Jaiden Grimes, Pope: Grimes was a playmaker defensively against Blessed Trinity. The senior made five tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss and two sacks, and he blocked an extra-point attempt.

Jasec Smith, Stephens County: One of the state’s leading ball hawks this season, Smith added to his interception total (5) with a pick-six in a win against Franklin County.

Marquacious Wright, Douglas County: Wright went to work in a 27-2 win over Paulding County. The senior had 10 tackles, including three tackles for loss and two sacks.
