The sixth week of the Georgia high school football season is in the books.

Now it’s time to voice your opinion on which player should be named SBLive’s Middle Georgia Defensive Player of the Week.



McIntosh junior Shakur Simpson was voted last week's SBLive Middle Georgia Defensive Player of the Week. Simpson intercepted two passes, returning one for a touchdown, and made a tackle for loss in a win over Landmark Christian.

Read up on this week's six candidates below and let us know your pick. Voting will conclude on Saturday, September 30th at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced in next week’s poll.

Cade Bates, Northgate: The senior came up with five tackles for loss and a pair of sacks, as the Vikings went on the road and picked up a big win against Veterans.

Maddox Geralds, Jonesboro: The Cardinals’ leading tackler had another strong performance in a win over Rockdale County. The junior came up with two tackles for loss and one sack in a shutout victory.

Antonio Heath, Heard County: The sophomore was all over the field in a 37-6 win against Clarkston. Heath made 17 tackles, including four tackles for loss, and he forced two fumbles.

Elijah Johnson, Northeast-Macon: Not only did Johnson save a touchdown in a win over Southwest, but he created points for the Raiders. The junior returned a goal-line interception for a 100-yard pick six.

Brandon Ridley, Jasper County: One of the state’s leading tacklers this year, Ridley tallied a season-high 18 tackles, including five tackles for loss, in a win over Mt. Zion.

Cedric Roberts, Peach County: The senior linebacker forced three turnovers in a win over Hardaway, forcing two fumbles and coming up with an interception.
