Let’s take a closer look at some of the best running backs in high school football so far for the 2023 season in the Peach State.

Our list includes some of the best in the Georgia and players who prove to be valuable to their teams this season in providing that crucial first down at the end of the game or helping to light up the scoreboard from all the touchdowns that they scored.

There are plenty of worthy names on this list, so be sure to vote in our poll for who you think has been the top running back so far this 2023 season. Voting will close on September 30.

This poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.

Jordan Triplett, Frederica Academy: Triplett, an Air Force commitment, has rushed for 902 yards and scored 11 touchdowns for the Knights this season. Leads the state in rushing. 

Duke Watson, Mary Persons: The Louisville commitment has rushed for 515 yards and scored six touchdowns so far this season. 

Matthew Fuller, Wayne County: One of the top 15 rushers in the state is South Carolina commitment. Fuller has rushed for 595 yards and six touchdowns. 

Jayden Scott, Stockbridge: The North Carolina State commitment has rushed for 393 yards and found the endzone nine times this season. 

Micah Welch, Baldwin: Welch is already committed to Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes and is off to a great start this season. The running back has rushed for 422 yards and four touchdowns for Baldwin. 

Keenan Phillips, Bainbridge: Phillips has offers on that table from schools like Appalachian State, Boston College and Florida Atlantic. The tailback has rushed for 631 yards and eight touchdowns. 

Amari Latimer, Sandy Creek: The running back has rushed for 550 yards and six touchdowns. Latimer has offers from Arizona, Georgia and Indiana on the table. 

Sammy Brown, Jefferson: The Clemson commitment, who will play linebacker at the next level, has had another stellar season in the ground game. Brown has rushed for 491 yards and 12 touchdowns. 

Fred Brown, Coffee: The Trojans have been playing really good football on offense and that’s been behind the play of Brown. Brown has rushed for 514 yards and three touchdowns this fall. 

Gavin Hall, Gainesville: Hall so far has shown those around the Peach State he’s been one of the most consistent backs, rushing for 476 yards this season. 

Ahmad Gordon, Perry: The Perry running back has rushed for 437 yards and scored 10 touchdowns. 

Zion Johnson, Newton: Johnson through the first four weeks has rushed for 464 yards and six touchdowns. 

Austin Clemons, Bryan County: Clemons has been very productive for Bryan County as the running back has rushed for 463 yards and scored six touchdowns.
