Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Georgia High School Athlete of the Week for Sept. 4-9 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Here are this week's nominations.

Gwen Hill, Hebron Christian Softball:

Hill only needed five innings to get the win and 11 strikeouts versus Oconee County. She also had eight strikeouts in the win over Stephens County and earned her 200th career strikeout.

Ethan Barbour Jr., Alpharetta Football:

Barbour caught four touchdowns in the second quarter and finished the game with six receptions for 210 yards and the four TDs in a 38-24 victory over Chattahoochee. Barbour is a four-star junior tight end.

Maddie Johnson, North Oconee Softball:

Johnson did it all in the 6-2 win over Flowery Branch. She had 11 strikeouts and got the win in the circle, while also going 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI.

Trelain Maddox, Parkview Football:

Maddox was a key piece in Parkview’s 35-32 win over North Gwinnett. He rushed for 228 yards and three touchdowns while also catching an interception on the defensive end.

Kendall Wells, North Oconee Softball:

Wells went 2-for-2 with two home runs and five RBIs in the 12-1 win over Madison County. With those two home runs she set the new single season home run record with her 15th.

Prince Jean, Valdosta Football:

Jean was a triple threat in Valdosta’s 45-12 win over Warner Robins. He rushed for 106 yards on four carries, had nine receptions for 76 yards and an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown.

Kendall Frost, Pope Softball:

Frost had a perfect game in seven innings with 15 strikeouts versus North Atlanta.

Sammy Brown, Jefferson Football:

Brown rushed for 188 yards and four touchdowns on only 16 carries in the 44-7 win over Oconee County.

Lyla Morici, Kell Softball:

Morici went five innings in the circle with zero runs allowed and nine strikeouts. She also went 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple and two RBIs.

Jack Stanton, Greater Atlanta Christian Football:

Stanton passed for 355 yards, four touchdowns, and rushed for 57 yards and another touchdown in the 31-17 win over Decatur.

Caroline Stanton, Buford Softball:

The sophomore earned her first perfect game and added 10 strikeouts, and not only did she impress in the circle but at the plate as well with her three-run home run.

Ahmad Gordon, Perry Football:

Gordon rushed for 169 yards and four touchdowns on 19 carries to help Perry take down Veterans 49-41.

Ryleigh Sapp, Apalachee Softball:

Sapp completely shutdown Shiloh. She had 14 strikeouts in the shutout.

Keenan Phillips, Bainbridge Football:

Phillips helped Bainbridge complete a double-digit second half comeback with his 202 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

Morgan Sullivan, North Gwinnett Softball:

Sullivan only needed to pitch four innings, but she was masterful in her time in the circle. She struck out eight batters and didn’t allow a single run.

Jeremy Richardson, Burke County Football:

Richardson rushed for 128 yards on nine carries and had two receptions for 100 yards and a total of three touchdowns as Burke County beat Evans 29-14.

Jake Merklinger, Calvary Day Football:

Merklinger went 10-for-15 passing for 272 yards and rushed for 78 yards, with four total touchdowns to help his team beat Charlotte Christian.

Shelby White, North Gwinnett Softball:

White went 3-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs in the 7-0 win over Creekview.

R.J. Holder, Mary Persons Football:

Holder kept Haralson County in check with his 14 total tackles and forced fumble.
