Two of the top three games this week involve Buford, which has hit a rough patch the past two weeks.

But big games are being played all over the state this week to decide region champions.

10. Denmark (20-7) @ South Forsyth (18-8), 6:15 p.m. Wednesday

The No. 1 seed Denmark will travel to face No. 2-seeded South Forsyth in 7A-Region 6. Denmark has had its way with South Forsyth and is 2-0 against the War Eagles on the season. South Forsyth has hit a groove of late, winning three straight, and will have to stay hot to knock off Denmark.

9. Metter (18-5) @ Savannah Christian (21-5), 5:30 Monday

Savannah Christian will host the reigning Class A Public champs in Metter. Savannah Christian is looking for its first win versus an opponent with a positive record in over five games. Metter has won eight in a row and 12 of its last 13.

8. Mary Persons (25-2) @ Pike County (24-2), 5:55 p.m. Tuesday

Two of the best 3A teams in the state are in the same region, making this is a potential state championship series. This will be the last series for both squads but their first time seeing each other this season. Mary Persons has scored almost 300 runs this season and allowed only 71. Pike County has won 14 in a row and 17 of its last 18.

7. North Cobb Christian (19-4) @ Mount Paran, 4:30 p.m. Thursday

Both teams have been dominant in A Private-Region 7, with 9-1 region records. The only region loss both teams have is against each other in a two-game series this season. The winner of this matchup will be the region champ, and both teams enter this matchup on fire. North Cobb Christian has won seven straight, and Mount Paran has won eight straight.

6. Chiles (Florida) (13-7) @ Lowndes (22-4), 6:30 p.m. Tuesday

Lowndes is one of the hottest teams in the state. The Vikings have won 16 straight games and haven’t lost in over a month. This will be Lowndes’ fifth game versus a Florida opponent, going 2-2 in the previous four. Chiles, riding a four-game win streak, is playing its second game against a Georgia opponent after beating Lee County earlier this season.

5. Lovett (20-5) @ Pace Academy (21-3), 5:55 p.m. Monday

Pace Academy beat Lovett in walk-off fashion last week and extended its win streak to 10 straight games. The two will have a three-game series to settle the score and end the regular season. The winner of this series will also take home the region title, and expect the loser to get a shot at revenge in the postseason.

4. Pope (20-7) @ Lassiter (19-8), 5:55 p.m. Wednesday

6A-Region 6 is one of the toughest regions in the state for baseball, with Pope, Kell, Allatoona and Lassiter atop the standings. Pope holds the top spot with a record of 11-2 and Lassiter is a touch behind at 10-4. Pope easily handled Lassiter in their last meeting with a 9-1 win.

3. Buford (21-5) @ Marist (20-7), 5:55 p.m. Friday

Buford and Marist will face off for the second time this season. The first matchup took place early in the season, and Buford squeaked by Marist 4-3. This might be an opportune time for Marist to catch Buford, as the Wolves have lost five of their last six games.

2. Cherokee (19-8) @ Etowah (21-6), 6:15 p.m. Tuesday

Cherokee and Etowah will wrap up their seasons with a three-game series. Even though Cherokee has struggled of late, the Warriors still control their region destiny as they are in first place with a 9-3 record. Etowah sits in second place with an 8-4 record, and with a little help and a series win could find itself in first place in a super tough region.

1. Buford (21-5) @ Parkview (20-6), 6 p.m. Thursday

This is one of the most highly anticipated regular-season matchups of the season. In one corner you have Parkview, the reigning 7A champions and one of the hottest teams in the state. In the other corner you have Buford, the top-ranked team throughout most of this season. This is a clash of titans that will feature a playoff atmosphere and some of the top talent in the state.
