As the official digital content partner of the Arkansas Activities Association, SBLive Sports has launched its first-ever computer ranking engine to rank every 11-man high school football team in Arkansas.

The computer rankings are reflective of every 11-man team's performance through the end of the 2020 regular season (through games played Nov. 8). The rankings do not include playoff results. At the conclusion of the playoffs, we will release our final 2020 football rankings.

Starting with the 2021 Arkansas high school football season, SBLive will release computer rankings every week of the season. The rankings can be filtered to view statewide, all-classification rankings, as well as class-specific rankings from 7A through 2A.

SBLive's Arkansas high school football computer rankings do not impact the AAA football season or playoffs in any way. This product is solely for the enjoyment of our audience, and high school football fans and teams across the state.

MORE: HOW OUR COMPUTER RANKINGS WORK

---

Our ranking engine was inspired by Wesley Colley's Bias-Free Team Ranking Method, which was one of the primary determinants the NCAA used to determine bowl games and national championships in BCS football from 2001-14. Team's ratings are determined by wins, losses and strength of schedule, like the Colley Method, and have been specifically developed to incorporate margin of loss/victory.

SBLive reporters also publish weekly Arkansas high school football expert rankings — both for the whole state and for all six divisions of 11-man football — that are entirely separate from our computer rankings. Our computer ranking system is not meant to replace our expert rankings, but instead to provide an alternative, complementary system based on applied statistics and data science that further enhances our platform for our readers.
