Who are the top freshmen and sophomore high school football players across the state of Washington?

Scorebook Live Washington reporters Todd Milles and Andy Buhler ranked the top-20 freshmen and sophomores across all classifications, in addition to other underclassmen who fall outside the top-20 but deserve recognition. They sought opinions from coaches, recruiting experts and trainers.

When ranking the players we looked at the following factors:

  • Is the player in the regular varsity rotation?
  • When the player is not on the field is his team worse off?
  • Do they project so high as a recruit we simply cannot ignore them?

Check out our ranked list and leave your feedback in the comments section.

Top 20 Underclassmen

1. LB, Dishawn Hunter Misa, Eastside Catholic, 6-1, 200, Soph. (class of 2022)

Menacing linebacker in the middle of the defense for the talent-laden Crusaders.

2. OT, Josh Conerly, Rainier Beach, 6-6, 275, Soph. (class of 2022)

Fast and agile offensive lineman (and former running back) with SEC size, and offers rolling in to match.

4. WR/DB, Tobias Merriweather, Union, 6-4, 175, Soph. (class of 2022)

Has the size, speed and hands of a power five receiver. More and more power-five programs are starting to notice.

Malik Agbo, Beamer

4. OT, Malik Agbo, Todd Beamer, 6-5, 295, Soph. (class of 2022)

Hulking offensive lineman who also plays some defense for Beamer. A four-star, per 247 Sports, and the nephew of Curtis Kitchen, a one-time time Seattle Supersonic.

5. OG, Dave Iuli, Puyallup, 6-5, 330, Soph. (class of 2022)

Size? Iuli certainly has it. But what separates the sophomore guard, a four-star recruit with offers from the likes of Tennessee, Washington and Texas A&M per 247 Sports, is his footwork and explosiveness.

6. ATH, Jayden Wayne, Lincoln, 6-4, 216, Fr. (class of 2023)

Plays defensive end, and has the athleticism and frame of a high-level Division I football player.

7. ATH, Kieran Collins, Kennedy Catholic, 6-1, 180, Soph. (class of 2022)

Rare combination of size and speed has been a big reason for his early success at Kennedy. Holds an offer from Florida State.

8. LB, Devon Nofoa-Masoe, Lakes, 6-1, 205, Soph. (class of 2022)

Outside linebacker is the ultimate disrupter. Hits hard, runs with speed. Projects as a safety/linebacker at the next level, and is Lakes' big-play running back.

9. ATH, Drew Carter, Lake Stevens, 6-3, 185, Soph. (class of 2022)

A playmaker on both sides of the ball. Solid athlete that flies around the field. Made key plays in Lake Stevens' run to the 4A state title game as a freshman.

10. OG, Mark Nabou, O’Dea, 6-4, 311, Soph. (class of 2022)

Big-bodied athlete with great feet and lots of raw ability. Excels in the run block for a stout O'Dea O-line.

11. QB, JP Zamora, Chiawana, 6-5, 185, Soph. (class of 2022)

A lifelong QB, Zamora is quick on his feet, has a natural rhythm and relishes pressure. "He's got a little moxie," Chiawana coach Steve Graff says.

12. LB, Quintin Yon-Wagner, Arlington, 6-2, 215, Soph. (class of 2022)

A tackling machine. Has a high motor and naturally high football IQ. Holds an offer from Tennessee. Expect more to come.

13. ATH, Chance Bogan, Wilson, 6-2, 185, Soph. (class of 2022)

What does he not do? Great size and speed who can run, catch and is regarded as the best skill position underclassmen in the Tacoma area. Plays with grit and tenacity and has the frame of an elite next-level wideout.

14. TE/DE, Andrew Savaiinaea, Eastside Catholic, 6-3, 220, Soph. (class of 2022)

Behind two skilled tight ends on offense, will be a future feature in the Crusaders' offense. He already starts opposite J.T. Tuimaloau on defense.

15. OT, Vega Ioane, Graham-Kapowsin, 6-4, 280, Soph. (class of 2022)

Raw talent who is relatively new to football, but has the frame and athleticism to be a Division I left tackle.

16. DT, Andrew Tillett, Sumner, 6-2, 285, Soph. (class of 2022)

By the end of his high school career, many will know his name. Strong, aggressive D-lineman who constantly creates pressure.

17. LB, Donovan Lowe, Kennedy Catholic, 6-0, 190, Soph. (class of 2022)

Key cog in a revamped and stout Kennedy Catholic defense at linebacker. Has great athleticism and football instincts.

18. DE/TE, Austin Terry, Tumwater, 6-4, 220, Soph. (class of 2022)

The latest prolific Tumwater tight end will be around for awhile. Is Tumwater's No. 1 passing option in the wing-T, and can block, too.

19. OL, Tapuloa Tusi, Lincoln, 6-4, 350, Fr. (class of 2023)

Extremely athletic for his massive frame with fantastic foot speed and has a competitive edge.

20. TE, Jahsiah Amouzou, Bellarmine Prep, 6-3, 225, Soph. (class of 2022)

big athlete who can run. Has the body that projects high at the next level. Big enough to play tight end, athletic enough to play inside receiver.
