Congratulations to O'Dea High School quarterback Milton Hopkins Jr. for being voted our Washington Federal Athlete of the Week!

A first-year starter at quarterback, Hopkins Jr. rushed for 100 yards and a pair of short touchdown runs, and added 63 passing yards and another score through the air in O’Dea’s 28-6 upset of Eastside Catholic.

Hopkins Jr. received 40.6% of the vote, beating out Kamiakin RB Tuna Altahir who finished with 21.6%. Camas running back Tyler Forner finished third with 21.4% and Puyallup WR Angel Sanchez finished fourth with 6%.

Here are the other athletes who were nominated for Oct. 7-13:

Ryan Blair, Mead QB: Blair was 22 of 27 for 513 yards and eight touchdowns in Mead’s 63-27 win over Marina in Huntington Beach, California.

Bowen Durkee, Columbia-White Salmon RB: Durkee rushed 13 times for 142 yards and 3 touchdowns in Columbia-White Salmon’s 42-0 win over Seton Catholic.

Angel Sanchez, Puyallup WR: Sanchez had 8 receptions for 146 yards and a touchdown in Puyallup’s 44-14 win over Olympia.

Tuna Altahir, Kamiakin RB: Altahir carried the ball 30 times for 224 yards and two touchdowns, and added a receiving TD, to lead Kamiakin to a 37-27 win over Walla Walla.

Kyson Jackson, Friday Harbor RB: Jackson carried the ball 11 times for 175 yards and four touchdowns in Friday Harbor’s 57-0 win over Foss. He finished with 253 all-purpose yards and three two-point conversions.

Matt Gabbert, Central Valley QB: Gabbert threw for 239 yards and three touchdowns to lead Central Valley to a 27-7 win over Mt. Spokane.

Tyler Forner, Camas RB: Forner returned a punt 92 yards for a touchdown and added a 12-yard TD run in Camas’ 52-0 victory over Sumner.

Kekoa Visperas, Bethel QB: Visperas threw for two touchdowns and ran for another in Bethel’s 35-30 upset victory over Lakes. He finished 15 of 22 for 174 yards through the air.

Dallas Landeros, Lake Stevens RB: Rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries in the Vikings’ 41-3 win over Glacier Peak.

Jude Mullette, Mountain View K: Mullette, a junior, was 3 for 3 with field goals from 27, 30 and 33 yards, and also 2 for 2 on PATs, in Mountain View’s 23-22 win over Prairie.

Sam Huard, Kennedy Catholic QB: Huard was 27 of 38 for 322 yards and five touchdowns in Kennedy Catholic’s 49-6 win over Todd Beamer. The five TD passes pushed him over 100 for his career.

Caden Filer, Lincoln QB: Filer was 24 of 30 for 356 yards and four touchdowns in Lincoln’s 56-7 win over Stadium.

Andrew Sirmon, Bothell QB: Sirmon accounted for two touchdowns in the final 1:30 of the game — including the game-winning nine-yard TD pass to Evan Berry — to lift Bothell to a 33-29 upset victory over Woodinville.

Chance Bogan, Wilson (Tacoma) WR: Bogan caught eight passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns in Wilson’s 48-0 win over Mount Tahoma.
