2024 Broward County Classic: Chaminade-Madonna to face St. John Bosco
FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA – Every year, the annual Broward County High School Football National Showcase seems to get bigger and better. For 2024, the organizers may have outdone themselves with the latest slate of games.
The slate of games scheduled for Saturday, August 24th will be televised nationally on ESPN and feature four traditional Florida powerhouse programs matching up against high school football powers from across the country.
Perhaps the biggest game on the board is Chaminade-Madonna (14-0), last season's top-ranked team in Florida and the No. 3 team in the final SBLive/Sports Illustrated Power 25, against California's St. John's Bosco (11-2), the CIF Southern Section Division 1 champion and No. 12 team in the final Power 25.
Also battling in South Florida in late August will be perennial Florida power American Heritage Plantation against Milton, the reigning Georgia Class 7A state champion and the No. 21 team in our final national poll; St. Thomas Aquinas, winners of five straight Florida state titles, vs. Nevada's Bishop Gorman, which went 12-0 and finished No. 4 in our final rankings; and Western, a rising program in South Florida, vs. Hoover, an iconic Alabama power looking to bounce back from a rare losing season. It's also the 20th anniversary of the once popular MTV series 'Two-A-Days,' which featured the Hoover Buccaneers.
The event begins two games on Thursday, August 22nd and one on August 23rd feature all-Florida match-ups (See full schedule below). Stay tuned to SBLive in the coming weeks for schedule updates and game times for the four Saturday games, which specific ones will be televised on ESPN. It is also likely, one of the Saturday games could be switched to a Friday night primetime matchup.

Broward County Classic co-founder Kevin Perry, originally from Virginia, has plenty of experience in organizing these type of bowl game events back in his time in the Michigan region with the games played at the University of Michigan. Perry played his high school ball at Alleghany High School (West Virginia) before playing collegiately at Emory & Henry College and Bridgewater College.
