Columbus' power forward Cameron Boozer is our SBLive Sports Florida's Player of the Year once again after leading the Explorers to the 2023-2024 Class 7A state championship

After another outstanding season of Florida high school boys basketball, it's time to give out awards in mass, starting with SBLive's all-state teams.

The main criteria for our end-of-season awards are players' overall impacts on winning, with an emphasis on individual statistics and team success relative to strength of schedule. Any other intangible or non-statistical contributions that substantially influenced team success were considered. Awards and achievements such as all-conference, all-league and all-district honors were taken into account as minor criteria, and players' postseason contributions were considered substantially.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: F Cameron Boozer - Columbus - Jr.

It's the second season in a row that we felt Boozer was the state's best player. The star 6-foot-9, 215 pound power forward was a highlight reel after nearly every single game and he had the statistics this past season to back him up. Boozer averaged 22.2 points, 11.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.1 blocks per game for the Explorers. With offers from some of the top college programs around the country like Duke, Miami (FL), Michigan, it's no wonder Boozer every major college is chasing after his services. The junior was a vital piece to Columbus winning their third straight Class 7A state championship, scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, three blocks in the title game victory over Oak Ridge. His game-tying dunk to send the championship game into overtime was an example of the kind of clutch play he provided in elite level contests.

MEET THE REST OF SBLIVE FLORIDA'S FIRST TEAM ALL-STATE:

G Cayden Boozer - Columbus - Jr.

The maestro point guard was once again the other critical piece to the Explorers’ Class 7A state championship team. Boozer holds a boatload of offers from schools like Arkansas, Duke, Miami (FL), was stellar all season long. The junior guard averaged 12.0 points, 7.6 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.8 steals a game for the season. Boozer made sure he came up big when Columbus needed him most at the end, scoring 16 points, nine rebounds and five assists in their state title win over Oak Ridge.

G Dante Allen - Riviera Prep - Jr.

Winning the Class 3A state championship was the icing on the cake for the Bulldogs and Allen was the catalyst every single night in making sure they notched a title. The combo guard could score or distribute, whichever was needed of him on any given night. In the 3A state championship win over Windermere Prep, the junior guard scored 26 points, six rebounds, two assists. For the season, Allen averaged 21.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.4 steals and 3.0 assists per game.

G Jamier Jones - Oak Ridge - Jr.

Though the Pioneers may have not come away with a state championship, Jones had this team pretty darn close. All season long, Jones showed everyone why he's one of the top guards in the country. The 6-foot-6 junior shooting guard scored 30 points twice against Evans and Windermere Prep, a Class 3A finalist, at the beginning of the season. Jones led the team to the 7A state championship game and scored 16 points, four rebounds in the loss to Columbus. The junior's final stats were 19.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

F Cooper Flagg - Montverde Academy - Sr.

A human highlight machine every time he took the court, no player was as exciting, high-flying as the future Duke Blue Devil. Flagg wowed crowds with his slam dunks that were seemingly on a nightly basis and against the top teams in the country. Whenever the Eagles faced elite competition, it would bring the best out of Flagg. The senior forward had arguably his best game in a 89-61 win over Columbus, scoring 23 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals. For the season, Flagg finished averaging 16.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game.

F/C Derik Queen - Montverde Academy - Sr.

Playing at either the power forward or center position for the Eagles, Queen was still one of the state's and country's top frontcourt players. The 6-foot-9, 220-pound Maryland commitment played a major role for an Eagles team vying for a national championship at the Geico Nationals. Queen averaged 16.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and one steals a game. There wasn't a forward/center as versatile as Queen at either the 4 or 5.
