ATLANTA, GEORGIA – The news broke on Friday afternoon but the outcome had been anticipated long before. Montverde Academy super star Cooper Flagg, a commit to Duke University, was selected as the 2024 Jersey Mike's Naismith High School Boys Basketball Player of the Year by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.

Flagg, who will make his final appearance as a high school player at the High School Nationals, April 4-6, in Brownsburg, Indiana, has led Montverde to a 30-0 record thus far this season while averaging 16.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game on a star studded team.

"I would like to thank Jersey Mike's and the Naismith selection committee for recognizing me as the Naismith High School Player of the Year," said Flagg. "It is a great honor that wouldn't have been possible without my parents, coaches, and teammates, who motivate me every day to get better."

Flagg is a 5-Star recruited rated as the No. 1 player in the Class of 2024 by all major rating services. Prior to signing his national letter of intent last summer with Duke, Flagg reclassified from the Class of 2025. He becomes the fifth Duke recruit to win Naismith award.
