Jay Walls to step down as head football coach at Navarre & heading to Bainbridge (Georgia)
One of the Florida Panhandle’s top head football coaches is stepping away.
According to Brian Lester of the Navarre Free Press, Jay Walls has stepped down as the head football coach at Navarre High School. Walls leaves after winning 102 games as the head coach of the Raiders and will take over in the same position at Bainbridge High School in Georgia.
Walls came to Navarre having previously coached in Georgia at Tift County and just surpassed the 200 win total last fall.
The Raiders’ head coach notched career high school football coaching victory No. 200 when Navarre defeated Tate 45-42 in a 2023 regular season thriller.
The former Navarre head coach leaves with 205 career victories under his belt. The Raiders clinched a berth in the Class 4S playoffs, losing to Bartram Trail 67-55 in a region quarterfinal matchups
Walls will be taking over for Jeff Littleton, who during his time with the Bearcats compiled a record of 91-42 and multiple AAAA region championships. Bainbridge finished the 2023 season with a record of 9-3.
Littleton, who was with the program 11 seasons, has been the lead man at Bainbridge since 2013 and only twice did he not lead the Bearcats to a record above the .500 mark. He ended up landing at Tift County, where Walls once was the head coach in the early 2000’s.
