Tampa Bay Buccaneers Preseason Kickoff Classic, Day 3-4 Roundup
TAMPA, FLORIDA- The final two days of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Preseason Kickoff Classic saw some good weather and the bad.
Between Friday and Saturday at the Ed Radice Sports Complex, some competitive games have taken place as teams get warmed up for the 2024 campaign. The latter day was cut short due to inclement weather in the area.
On Saturday morning, teams took the field once again for preseason action and SBLive Sports Florida was on hand for some of the action taking place.
One of the top games of the day was between Lennard and Miami Edison, with the Longhorns coming out on top 33-13.
The game's first touchdown would come on a double-pitchback when junior Layla Crawford took the jet handoff and then pitched it back to wide receiver Grayce Bird, who took it the distance. Lennard led 7-0 after the extra point, but Edison answered right back to cut the lead down to 7-6.
After adding another touchdown in the second via an Abby Elwell touchdown toss, it would be Lennard's defense coming up big in the second period. Multiple goal line stands held off Miami Edison from tying up the game, giving the Longhorns 13-6 advantage heading into halftime.
The third quarter proved to be the difference in the game, as Elwell found a wide open Bird streaking down the right sideline, going over 40 yards for the score. A pick six on Edison's following possession made it 27-6 and Lennard was able to hold on from that point on.
