Matt Elam joins Teddy Bridgewater’s staff at Miami Northwestern High School

Elam started 26 games for the Baltimore Ravens in the mid 2010’s

Add another former NFL player to Miami Northwestern High School’s football staff.

According to The Portal 305, Teddy Bridgewater has added former Baltimore Ravens’ safety Matt Elam to his coaching staff. Elam will be the safeties coach at Northwestern under Bridgewater.

With Elam now joining the Bulls, it’s the first of many highly anticipated coaching hires made by Bridgewater. From the looks of it, the Bulls’ alum is looking to put together an all-star caliber staff to bring Northwestern back to prominence.

Elam played for three seasons in the NFL for the Baltimore Ravens, making 26 starts. Between 2013-2016, Elam made 131 tackles and six went for a loss.

The safety spent his time collegiately at the University of Florida from 2010-2012 and made 176 tackles, 23.5 for loss, 13 pass breakups and picked off six passes.

The Bulls had held their head coaching vacancy open after parting ways with Michaelee Harris after just one season. Rumors persisted for months that Bridgewater was always the choice for the head coaching job, but the school had been quiet on the subject, presumably waiting for the Detroit Lions’ season to conclude.

Now with Bridgewater as the head in charge, the hiring of Elam is one of his first big moves staffing wise.
