Breaking: Carol City names George Stubbs as program’s next head football coach

Stubbs was most recently the head coach at Avant Garde

While South Florida awaits who Miami Northwestern decides on naming as a head coach, another neighboring school decided on who will lead their program heading into 2024.

Carol City High School tabbed former Avant Garde head coach George Stubbs to the same position on Wednesday afternoon. The Chiefs had an Instagram live video in which they announced the hiring of Stubbs.

Stubbs led the Sharks to the postseason in Class 1M the last two years. In his two seasons with the Sharks, Stubbs led the program to an 11-10 mark and brings plenty of promise to a Carol City team that has come upon tough times.

Last season, the Chiefs finished 1-8, with the only win of the season coming against Westland Hialeah. Over the last three years, the Chiefs are a combined 9-21.

Stubbs before coaching at Avant Garde in 2022-2023 was the head coach at Dade Christian for two seasons. He compiled an overall mark of 11-8 with the Crusaders.
