UCF’s Gus Malzahn uses helicopter to make recruiting visit to Cocoa

Malzahn became the latest to make his rounds around the Sunshine State

It’s become a trend in late January to come by a Florida high school in style.

In Thursday afternoon, another college head football decided to make a grand entrance when showing up to see recruits.

University of Central Florida head coach Gus Malzahn showed up to Cocoa High School, the back-to-back Class 2S state champions, to visit with Tigers’ coach Ryan Schnieder and recruits.

A couple of top prospects at Cocoa are 4-star wide receiver Jayvan Boggs (Ohio State) and quarterback Brady Hart, who is considered one of the best signal callers of the 2026 recruiting class.

Malzahn is heading into his fourth season with the Knights and is coming off a 6-7 campaign, the first as part of the BIG 12. His overall record is 101-54 between his time with Auburn and UCF.

UCF’s 2024 recruiting class consists of 18 commitments and is rated No. 34 nationally.
