Greg Smith III, 4-star athlete, signs with Florida

The 4-star talent out of Riverview, Florida decided on the Gators over a slew of over schools

Just eight days ago, Sumner athlete Greg Smith III had narrowed his choices down to six schools.

Pushing his final decision back to Early National Signing Day, Smith III wanted to make sure he made the best choice for himself. That choice was staying right in the Sunshine State.

On Wednesday afternoon, Smith III announced at Sumner High School that he would be signing with the University of Florida. The 4-star rated athlete, according to 247Sports, chose the Gators over Ole Miss, Toledo, Vanderbilt, Virginia and USF.

This past season for Sumner, Smith III played primarily at quarterback for the Stingrays, but could play at a different skill position once he lands in Gainesville.

Smith III led Sumner to the Class 4M, Region 2 finals, with the signal caller throwing for 1,633 yards, 32 touchdowns versus just four interceptions. On the ground, Smith III rushed for 409 yards, seven touchdowns and playing defense, the senior made 29 tackles and an interception.
