Chaminade-Madonna's Jeremiah Smith wins Nat Moore Trophy
After helping win Chaminade-Madonna the Class 1M state championship in convincing fashion over a week and a half ago, now the post-season awards have begun rolling in for wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.
On Tuesday evening, Smith added one of the most coveted pieces of hardware any high school football player from South Florida can attain.
Smith was awarded the Nat Moore Trophy, given to the top high school football player annually in South Florida (Broward-Dade counties). The Ohio State commitment edged out teammate Joshisa Trader, Miami Central's Lawayne McCoy and St. Thomas Aquinas' Jordan Lyle.
It was a banner year for Smith and the Lions, as they ran the table to go 14-0 on the season. The wide receiver played a major reason why opposing defensive coordinators were left trying to figure out how to stop Chaminade-Madonna. The best answer was you can't.
Smith ended the season catching 90 passes for 1,389 yards and 19 touchdowns. His best game came in a 61-21 rout of Bergen Catholic (New Jersey) when the wide receiver caught 17 passes for 321 yards and scored three touchdowns.
