For months, it looked like a sure deal that Largo linebacker Adarius Hayes would be taking his talents to Gainesville to play for the University of Florida.

That was until a recent visit down to Coral Gables changed Hayes’ perspective on everything.

Wednesday afternoon solidified everything, as the 4-star rated linebacker flipped his commitment from Florida and signed with the Miami Hurricanes. Hayes announced his commitment in front of friends and family in the auditorium at Largo High School.

Hayes had strong back-to-back seasons for the playoff-bound Largo Packers. In 2023, Hayes made 108 tackles, three for a loss and a sack. The prior 2022 campaign, Hayes tallied 121 tackles and 14 of them went for a loss.

The linebacker heads down to the 305 to play for what has become a star-studded 2024 recruiting class for Hurricanes’ head coach Mario Cristobal.
