Cai Bates, 4-star defensive back, commits to Florida State

Bates announced on Friday that he was committing to the Seminoles

It’s that time of the year where colleges are making their last pleas in trying to get commitments to flip before signing day later this month.

The Florida State Seminoles added to an impressive 2024 class of commitments on Friday afternoon.

Edgewater defensive back Cai Bates announced Friday afternoon that he is committing to Florida State. Bates decommitted from LSU back on Nov. 13 and less than a month later has his new school.

The defensive originally committed to LSU back in July. Bates is a 4-star rated safety according to 247Sports.

Bates was a key component to Edgewater’s 11-1 team this season, qualifying for the Class 3M playoffs as he recorded 23 tackles and three interceptions. The Fighting Eagles reached the region semifinals and eventually fell to Jones 28-24.

The defensive back also held offers from Colorado, Duke, East Carolina and Florida.
