As such, we have 10 athletes nominated this week for the SBLive’s North Suncoast Florida high school football defensive player of the week award from October 26-27, and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Saturday, Novemeber 4th at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced in next week's poll.
Here are this week's nominations:
Keaundre Gavin, LB, Hernando: In Hernando's 31-13 win over Crystal River, Gavin notched nine tackles, two for a loss and two sacks.
Jamarian Miller, DB, Fivay: Miller tallied an interception in Fivay's 27-15 win over River Ridge.
Jordan Bonacasa, DL, Fivay: Bonacasa recorded nine total tackles, four went for a loss, two sacks, and a fumble recovery against the Royal Knights.
Jaiden Barron, LB, Wiregrass Ranch: The Bulls' linebacker tallied a team-high 18 tackles in a 37-35 loss to Land O' Lakes.
Roman Sercu, DB, Cypress Creek: The strong safety made a boatload of tackles in the Coyotes' 63-35 loss to Zephyrhills, notching 16 takedowns.
Bishop Taylor, DB, Mitchell: Taylor, a safety for the Mustangs, tallied seven tackles and two going for a loss in the team's 62-6 thrashing of Sunlake.
Desmick Davis, DL, Pasco: Davis notched five tackles and a sack in the Pirates' 53-0 win over Wesley Chapel.
Jordan Jandro, LB, Weeki Wachee: Jandro had himself a big night in the Hornets' 20-14 win over Central, tallying a team-high 13 tackles and four going for a loss.
Jacob Lawson, LB, Weeki Wachee: Lawson was neck and neck with Jandro in making tackles, notching 12 and three going for a loss.
Ryan Wood, LB, Central: The Bears' linebacker did everything he could in a loss to the rival Hornets, making 17 tackles and an interception.
