Freshman year is where it all starts for any aspiring wide receivers looking to become the next Jeremiah Smith down in the Sunshine State.

That’s where we go today as we take a little dive into some of the top freshmen wide receivers all around the Sunshine State. We’ve put a list together of some of the top freshmen pass catchers and we ask you to vote on who you think is the best from this 2023 season.

We give you eight candidates to choose from and you can also write in one of your own if you don’t see the freshman wide receiver you think tops the 2027 class.

Voting closes on November 30th, 11:59 pm.

Here are this week's nominations:

Joshua Jones, Zarephath Academy: Jones leads all wide receivers in the state in receiving yards with 37 catches for 1,044 yards and has scored nine touchdowns.

Gavin Davis, Zephyrhills Christian Academy: The Warriors’ wide receiver has been a big contributor on offense this season. Davis has hauled in 23 passes for 365 yards and two touchdowns.

Michael Connor III, Oakleaf: Playing up against some of the best competition week in and week out in Northeast Florida, Connor III has been exceptional for the Knights. Connor III has caught 25 passes for 361 yards and three scores.

Landon Wolny, First Baptist Academy: Wolny sees time out wide and at tight end for the Lions and has made the most of his opportunities. The 6-foot-3 pass catcher has caught 24 passes for 351 yards and five touchdowns.

Fletcher Kean, Estero: Kean sees time at wide receiver and cornerback, with the freshman putting up some strong numbers of the former. The 6-foot, 170-pound wideout has caught 19 passes for 285 yards and scored three touchdowns.

Romeo Sararo, Aubrey Rogers: The Patriots might be a new football program, but they're already producing some pretty good receivers. Sararo has 28 receptions for 331 yards and three touchdowns.

Bryce Norflee, First Academy: Norflee has been one of the Eagles' most dependable receivers as a freshman, notching 12 catches for 280 yards and scoring four touchdowns.

Quintero Frierson, Everglades Prep Academy: The 5-foot-9, 140-pound receiver has caught 20 passes for 311 yards and five touchdowns this season.

Kaneilius Purdy, Lake Wales: Purdy has put Polk County on notice not only as a runner out of the backfield, but also as a receiver. The freshman has caught 12 passes for 425 yards and eight touchdowns for the defending Class 3S state champs.
