We’ve selected 12 candidates to choose from this past week’s games

High school football is back in the Sunshine State and so begins our Player of the Week polls for areas all around the state. Teams started off the regular season with some great individual performances in Week 8.

As such, we have 12 athletes nominated this week for the SBLive’s North Central Florida Offensive Football Player of the Week award from October 12-13, and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Saturday, October 21st at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced in next week's poll.

Here are the nominations: 

Brandon Norman, RB, Ocala Christian: The running back rushed for 140 yards on nine carries and scored three touchdowns in the Crusaders 70-18 win over Liberty. 

Maleek Williams, FB, The Villages: Williams had a strong game against Mount Dora in a 17-8 win as the fullback carried the rock 29 times for 137 yards and two touchdowns. 

Abram Jerkins, RB, Oak Hall: The Oak Hall running back rushed for 79 yards and scored two touchdowns in the team’s 20-8 win over P.K. Yonge. 

Jackson Gentry, QB, Trenton: Gentry led the way in the 40-0 win over Bronson, completing 9-of-13 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown. 

Jon Furst, RB, Trenton: The running back ran the ball seven times for 92 yards and a touchdown in a win over Bronson. 

Landen Sherman, QB, South Sumter: Last name looks familiar, right? The quarterback completed 8-of-11 passes for 139 yards and four touchdowns in a 63-6 win over Hernando. 

Chris Henry, RB, Dunnellon: The running back rushed for 86 yards and scored three touchdowns in the Tigers’ 42-0 win over Crystal River. 

CJ Ingram, QB, Hawthorne: Ingram completed 13-of-21 passes for 227 yards and two touchdowns on the Hornets’ 28-0 defeat of Union County.

Keenon Johnson, RB, Hawthorne: The tailback rushed for 136 yards on 18 carries and scored twice in the Hornets’ win. 

Alan Means, QB, Wildwood: The signal caller threw for over 100 yards and a touchdown, plus added 37 on the ground and a score in Wildwood’s win over Spanish River. 

Dakota Fisher, RB, Fort White: Fisher rushed for 163 yards on 16 carries and scored two times in the Indians’ 35-0 win over Dixie County. 

Za’vion Bryant, QB, Madison County: Bryant completed 4-of-9 passes for 145 yards and three touchdowns in the Cowboys’ 38-13 win over Suwannee.
