Vote: Who should be the Florida Panhandle Midseason Offensive Player of the Year?

We have 11 candidates for you to choose from

We are now at the midway point of the 2023 regular season of high school football for most teams throughout the Sunshine State and we begin to roll out our midseason awards regionally.

Starting off the awards, we begin on offense over on the Florida Panhandle and ask the question: Who should be the Offensive Player of the Year? I mean, halfway through there’s been plenty of star performers and our list is down below of the candidates.

Here are the nominations:  

Cole Tabb, RB, Choctawhatchee: The Stanford commitment has been one of the best running backs in the state so far. Tabb at the midway point has carried the rock 72 times, 750 yards and six touchdowns for the Indians. 

Anthony Hall, QB, Escambia: As a first-year starter, Hall has exploded onto the scene as a very capable quarterback. The baseball-turned-football player has completed 88-of-138 passes for 1,316 yards, 10 touchdowns and just one interception. 

Connor Mathews, RB, Navarre: The running back powers the Raiders’ offense on a weekly basis and has proven to be the engine to Navarre’s offense. Mathews has rushed for 747 yards on 96 touches and scored 13 touchdowns. 

Battle Alberson, QB, Gulf Breeze: Somehow colleges are missing out on the senior quarterback and all the Dolphins’ starter does is produce. Alberson has completed 83-of-144 passes for 1,266 yards, and 17 touchdowns, four interceptions. Also has rushed for 191 yards and two touchdowns. 

Wells Bettenhausen, QB, Walton: Bettenhausen was at South Walton last season and has come onto the scene at Walton and played well as the starter. The quarterback has completed 67-of-99 passes for 1,019 yards, eight touchdowns and just two interceptions. 

Carson Hawk, QB, South Walton: The signal caller has played very efficiently at the quarterback position for Phil Tisa’s bunch. Hawk has completed 68-of-127 passes for 1,022 yards, 11 touchdowns and just one interception. 

Nick Simmons, QB, Pace: Simmons has been one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks on the Florida Panhandle and his numbers back it up. The signal caller has completed 20-of-38 passes for 330 yards, five touchdowns. He has also rushed for 493 yards and three touchdowns. 

Eddie Love Jr., RB, Fort Walton Beach: Love Jr. transferred over in the off-season and has made a major impact for the Vikings on offense. The running back has compiled 829 yards on 84 carries and scored a team-high nine touchdowns. 

Amari Clemons, RB, Marianna: One of the top running backs in the state has been out of Marianna in Clemons. The tailback has carried the ball 64 times for 630 yards and 14 touchdowns. 

Jason Patterson, RB, Sneads: The Cincinnati commitment plays a Wildcat role for the Pirates and has gotten his yards with the opposing defense knowing he will run the ball. Patterson has ran the ball 53 times for 564 yards and six touchdowns. 

Peyton Gay, QB, Bozeman: Efficiency has been Gay’s middle name this season. The Bucks’ starting quarterback has completed 44-of-86 passes for 772 yards, 11 touchdowns and zero interceptions. Bozeman’s starting quarterback has also rushed for 144 yards, three touchdowns.
