Vote: Who is the North Central Florida midseason Offensive Player of the Year?
We are now at the midway point of the 2023 regular season of high school football for most teams throughout the Sunshine State and we begin to roll out our midseason awards regionally.
Starting off the awards, we begin on offense over on the North Central Florida and ask the question: Who should be the Offensive Player of the Year? I mean, halfway through there’s been plenty of star performers and our list is down below of the candidates.

Here are the nominations:
CJ Ingram, QB, Hawthorne: The two-sport athlete has shown improvement as a passer this season for the Hornets. Ingram, a junior and son of head coach Cornelius Ingram, has completed 40-of-67 passes for 821 yards and 12 touchdowns and just two interceptions.
Trace Johnson, QB, Buchholz: It’s been an easy transition for Chuck Bell from defensive coordinator to head coach and the offense has been made easier by the play of Johnson. The quarterback has thrown for 475 yards and seven touchdowns, zero interceptions.
Jamare Dorsey, RB, South Sumter: The running back has been one of the lead workhorses for the Raiders in the last couple of seasons. Dorsey this season has ran the ball 43 times for 310 yards (7.2 yard per carry average) and three touchdowns.
Kaleb Woods, RB, Newberry: One of the big reasons why the Panthers’ offense has been humming is because of Woods in the backfield. The tailback has rushed 87 times for 665 yards and eight touchdowns.
Jace McDonald, RB, Williston: The Red Devils’ rushing attack has been one of the best in the Class 1-Rural classification. McDonald has been the primary running back as he’s carried the rock 37 times for 307 yards and a team-high eight touchdowns.
Osten Jones, RB, Chiefland: Jones is one of the state’s leaders in the rushing department and it’s come more surprisingly. The running back has carried the ball 91 times for 792 yards and nine touchdowns.
Adrian Curtis, QB, Eastside: The junior signal caller has played well for the Rams so far this season. Curtis has completed 37-of-91 passes for 801 yards, eight touchdowns and four interceptions.
Marquavious Owens, RB, Suwannee: The senior tailback has paced a Bulldogs team that’s currently undefeated on the season. Owens has run the ball 64 times for 418 yards and a team-high five touchdowns.
Fred Gaskin III, ATH, Vanguard: The University of South Florida commitment has been electric for the Knights throwing and running the ball. Gaskin III has thrown for 740 yards, six touchdowns and rushed for an additional 151 and six scores.
Vimel Poole, QB, Forest: Another dual-threat quarterback that’s played very well this fall is Poole for the Wildcats. The signal caller has completed 67-of-127 passes for 861 yards, seven touchdowns. Poole has also rushed for 209 yards and six scores.
Dakota Brower, QB, Oak Hall: Brower can do it by throwing or running the ball. The Oak Hall starting quarterback has thrown for 455 yards, four touchdowns and also rushed for an additional 218, four scores.
