Tampa Bay High School Football Offensive Player of the Week (Sep. 21-22): Vote Now

We’ve selected 16 candidates to choose from this past week’s games

High school football is back in the Sunshine State and so begins our Player of the Week polls for areas all around the state. Teams started off the regular season with some great individual performances in Week 5. 

As such, we have 16 athletes nominated this week for the SBLive’s Tampa Bay Offensive Football Player of the Week award from September 21-22, and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Saturday, September 30 at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced in next week's poll.

Here are this week's nominations.

Willie Suarez, WR, Jesuit: The wide receiver was the catalyst in the Tigers’ 28-21 win over Armwood. Suarez ended the night with nine carries for 88 yards, four touchdowns and added six catches for 74 yards.

Rhys Brush, QB, Armwood: The freshman quarterback ended up completing 10-of-17 passing for 147 yards and two touchdowns.

Deondre Nelson, RB, Seminole: Nelson played a lot more at running back in the Seminoles’ 62-21 win over Hollins, rushing for 122 yards and three touchdowns. 

Javeyon McKenzie, WR, Northeast: The wide receiver caught six passes for 156 yards in the Vikings’ 41-14 win over Boca Ciega. 

Josh Robinson, WR, Calvary Christian: One of the area’s top wide receivers went off in a 57-6 win over Wildwood. Robinson caught five passes for 180 yards and three touchdowns. 

Sean Cuono, RB, Calvary Christian: Cuono got in on the action and carried the rock 12 times for 186 yards and two touchdowns. 

Malik Hassoun, RB, Newsome: The Wolves defeated Bloomingdale 35-21 and the running back rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns in the victory. 

Chris Denson, QB, Plant City: Though the Raiders lost 42-40 to Hillsborough, Denson had a strong game. The quarterback completed 14-of-23 passes for 268 yards and four touchdowns. 

JC Mirasola, QB, Plant: The quarterback completed 9-of-11 passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns in a 65-6 rout of Chamberlain. 

Jaelin Sneed, RB, East Bay: Sneed had one of his best games yet and carried the ball 13 times for 281 yards, five touchdowns in a 64-0 win over Jefferson. 

Justin Stephens, RB, Clearwater Central Catholic: The running back carried the ball 13 times for 130 yards and two touchdowns in the Marauders’ 38-20 win over Sebring. 

Emarian Triplett, RB, Pinellas Park: Triplett found the endzone plenty of times in the Patriots’ 56-18 win over Gibbs. Triplett rushed for 86 yards and scored five touchdowns. 

Jeff Jones, ATH, St. Petersburg: Jones totaled 204 all-purpose yards and had four touchdowns in the Green Devils’ 42-7 win over Dunedin. 

Michael Ryan, QB, Durant: The Cougars’ quarterback had a big night in a 47-17 win over Lennard. Ryan completed 17-of-27 passes for 282 yards and four touchdowns. 

Rod Gainey, RB, Tampa Bay Tech: The Titans’ running back rushed nine times for 227 yards and three touchdowns in Tampa Bay Tech’s 39-30 win over Gaither. 

Jayce Nixon, QB, Gaither: Nixon had another big game despite being on the losing side of things. The quarterback threw for 348 yards and three touchdowns.
