South Suncoast Florida Offensive Player of the Week (Sep. 21-22): Vote Now

We’ve selected 10 candidates to choose from this past week’s games

High school football is back in the Sunshine State and so begins our Player of the Week polls for areas all around the state. Teams started off the regular season with some great individual performances in Week 5.

As such, we have 10 athletes nominated this week for the SBLive’s South Suncoast Offensive Football Player of the Week award from September 21-22 and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Saturday, September 30 at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced in next week's poll.

Here are this week's nominations.

Andrew Heidel, QB, Manatee: The junior quarterback played likely the best game of his prep career. Heidel completed 20-of-37 passes for 377 yards and four touchdowns in an exciting 31-24 win over Port Charlotte. 

Bonshavior Bean Jr., WR, Manatee: One of the fastest wide receivers on the South Suncoast has proven it once again against a quality opponent. Bean had seven catches, 176 yards and two touchdowns. 

Edd Guerrier, RB, Port Charlotte: The Rutgers commitment had a strong game for the Pirates despite in a loss. Guerrier rushed 12 times, 125 yards and two touchdowns. 

Jordan Johnson, QB, Sarasota Booker: Coming off the bench for the Tornadoes, Johnson led a comeback he will never forget. Johnson threw two fourth quarter touchdowns in a come-from-behind victory against Braden River. 

Lucas Despot, QB, Braden River: Though Despot was on the losing end, he kept the Pirates in the game to the very end. Despot finished the contest completing 13-of-33 for 193 yards and two touchdowns.

Jaden Judge, RB, Bayshore: The running back had himself another big game for the Bruins as Jude scored five touchdowns and 258 all-purpose yards in a 50-21 win over DeSoto County. 

Caleb Rhodes, QB, Bayshore: It wasn't just Judge having all the fun on the Bayshore offensive side. The quarterback completed 15-of-28 for 233 yards and three touchdowns. 

Zeke Baez, RB, North Port: Stop the Bobcats! Garon Belser's bunch is starting to learn what it feels like to be more on the winning side is like. Baez rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns in a 29-15 win over Gateway. 

Johnny Squitieri, QB, Sarasota: The quarterback played well in a 42-14 loss to Bishop Verot. Squitieri completed 17-of-27 passes for 234 yards. 

Lorenzo Maurceri, QB, Lemon Bay: By halftime, Maurceri had 250 yards of offense and the Manta Rays had compiled nearly 400 as a team in a 48-7 rout of IMG Academy Blue.
